Spiros On The Beach — Restaurant in Municipality of Southern Corfu

my friend and I visited this restaurant on 12.8.20. Imagine the anticipation, a restaurant on the beach in messonghi, a beautiful view and a perfect location. We were greeted by a very dour grumpy maitre de, one would have thought that an empty restaurant on the sea front would welcome diners, not so im afraid. Most of the drinks on the menu were not available. When it comes to food, their promise was fresh, local produce, again, a big let down. The lamb chops had seen better days , and the Sole was battered and obviously not fresh. All meals were advertised as coming with fresh veg and roast potatoes, again, none available. There are alot of stray cats in the village of messonghi and my bet is it even these would have turned their nose up at the food. No atmosphere, inadequate food, indifferent staff, i wouldnt recommend it and I certainly would not visit this establishment again. Try any of the bars along the front, at the very least they offer a cheery welcome, not what you will get...

Came to this place for a nice meal (good reviews) with a friend. He ordered pork stake with peper sause, and I ordered one of traditionally cooked beef and fried courgette. Strangely, the waitress did not really know what was on the menu or what the main sauces were made of. Also, I felt weird when she wouldn't talk to me at all, but I was just referring to my friend. I asked to serve courgettes together with a main meal, but it arrived 10 minutes earlier. Although they were made very tasty. Unfortunately, I can not say the same thing about beef. Although it was soft, it was very dry and tasteless, and even the sauce could not compensate for it. After we were done with the meals nobody would come to us for around 30 min. We were looking through the drinks menu, which we had to get by ourselves, and even after long read, nobody came, nobody cleaned our plates or asked if we wanted anything else. This has been my go to beach bar/ restaurant during my stay near Messonghi.It is located nearest to the Messonghi river on a strip of restaurants on the beach front. Efxaristo and his lovely family are charming and polite. I love the blue and white decor which so suits the relaxed atmosphere here, a perfect place to enjoy the languid bay. The food is excellent and beautifully presented, what more can I add? Great point, not to be left out, the sun loungers are free to those using the restaurant, if only...
