We are a family of 4 with a 14yr old and 11 yr old. After a week of stressing not being able to find anything, Jack from Blue Sea Holidays went out of his way to find us a good deal. On 18th Aug we travelled to Kavos in Corfu by Monarch, the flight was ok but nothing special, for a week. There was no TV, no blankets (it was a night flight - never again) and the food was a rip off. We bared it for 3 hours, which actually was a more comfortable journey than the 5 hours to Gatwick from Leicester on coach we did (never again). Gatwick only checked our passports but not the tickets and didn't even weigh the luggage. But when we were on the flight waiting to leave we saw our luggage being taken off but then found out it was the other flights luggage and had to wait for the swap. Corfu airport literally counted the passports out loud "1234" looked at us "1234" and told us to go through with a lovely smile. The journey back was just as uneventful. I was quite worried reading all the reviews on Kavos, thinking the night life and drunkards will take over our holiday, but it was the complete opposite! Our Self Catering apartments were on the quiet side even though Kavos is not that big. The latest we were out was just after 11pm and it was calm. The music was on and the young were enjoying but it never disturbed us or kept us awake. We stayed in Kamini apartments, which were very basic, 2 bedrooms, one at the sea front so lovely air coming through, but the other bedroom was at the back. It had a small window with no air but plenty of mosquitoes coming through. We didn't bother with the air con or fans as we wanted to experience the heat as much as possible. Be prepared to do your own laundry as the laundry services down the road are too expensive. We cleaned out the bin and used it and the sink lol. The shower room and kitchen were too small. The kitchen had no toaster or oven so cooking was minimal. We ate out for breakfast on the first and last day, ate in for lunch and snacks but ate out every night. The sea and sea breeze was beautiful but the brown seaweed type stuff made it quite uncomfortable to stand in. We were told we could use a pool in the next door apartments but this pool was actually down to the main road walk down and turn into another road then walk to the end. It was a lovely rectangle pool with very little chlorine in. We spent a lot of time in and around it. The weather was very hot and gorgeous and got hotter by the day. Kavos was not as developed as I thought it would be but still had its charm. The people are so friendly and welcoming. There are endless bars, restaurants and shops selling the same things. You can get everything you need but at a more expensive price, (quite a rip off). Families can eat out between £20-40 easy. There is nothing for very small children so I wouldn't recommend this for families with young. In one of the restaurants, there is a bowling alley with various games e.g. snooker table, basketball hoop, table tennis. A few of the other restaurants have a few games too. My girls enjoyed this a lot. We went on 2 day trips, one was to Aqualand which was absolutely amazing, we recommend this for all ages. Just prepare for the freezing showers after, lack of changing areas and no mirrors, still a day not to be missed, although we would have loved to stay longer. The other trip was to the Blue Lagoon. Supposed to be a family trip by boat to another island where we can chill before returning. Food and only 1 small drink was provided. It stopped twice to let everyone swim in deep water then when we got to island of Sivota we only had 45 mins to enjoy it. It was a boring trip for kids. They were waiting to swim but there was nowhere to do that. We visited Corfu town but did not have enough time to enjoy it thoroughly as it was our last day. Definitely would've liked to stay longer there. The week was too short and went quick. Overall, it was a gorgeous holiday and we did not want...
Read moreEvery year, my mother and I continue our cherished tradition of choosing a new Greek island to visit, and this year we find ourselves in the southern corner of Corfu, Kavos, Kamini appartments—an absolute paradise. The place where we're staying couldn't be more perfect: nestled right on the seashore, it offers a daily experience steeped in peace and beauty. From the moment I wake up, I’m greeted by the warmth of the sunrise and the gentle sounds of the sea. My mornings often begin with a long swim, venturing far out into the tranquil waters. Our balcony quickly becomes the heart of our day—it's where we savor all our meals, from breakfast to lunch, enjoying the fresh air and breathtaking views. One of the delights of our stay is the local food. We stop by supermarkets nearby to pick up fantastic fruits, rich Greek cheese, and local wine, making our balcony meals truly special. Most of our days are spent relaxing by the sea, but when evening comes, we love exploring different seaside tavernas—always choosing the quieter spots away from the busy city center, which tends to fill up with a younger, louder crowd. For sunset, we often take a short 15-minute drive to the opposite side of the island, to the beach at Micronisi—perfect for a serene evening by the water. We’ve also made memorable trips to the picturesque surroundings of Paleokastritsa and Pelekas, each offering their own unique charm. Our host and the cleaning ladies are exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The hospitality and cleanliness of this place have truly made us feel at home. Everything is spotless and so well-preserved that it’s easy to relax and enjoy every moment. Thank...
