The Real Greek — Restaurant in Municipality of Southern Corfu

This place is one of that places you go once and definitely never again. We wanted to have a nice greek dinner so we were looking for a place to eat around the area. Manny places was already closed so we chose to try The Real Greek. We went there for dinner, I had to say that it was end of October so end of the season, but, this is not an excuse for what happened. From the beginning we were welcomed by the owner of the place, who seemed a nice man. Being at end of the season, he was also our waiter, so we asked him from the start: ,,do you have everything in the menu?” And his answer was ,,yes, off course”. All right: we ordered our drinks and he start being a bit pushy (thinking maybe we don’t want to buy something else)… we asked for a bit more time so we can read the menu. We ended up ordering the meze platter for one (as an appetizer) and the grill platter for two. We received the meze, wich was fine, even though some of the dipping were missing (without even telling us), anyway we eat it and waiting for the nice grill plater. In the meantime we heard a discussion at the table next to us that the lady who ordered lamb kleftiko received a nice dish, but no lamb in it, the owner said: ,,oh yeah, today no lamb, is with beef” …promising) We saw someone from the kitchen coming at the grill station and instead of starting the grill, putting something in the air fryer. We were shocked but didn’t said anything at the moment, thinking they maybe do another dish. The waiting for it was around 45 minutes. We received ,,the platter” and we were shocked, non of the things in there saw the grill, also seems so small (one burger patty cut in half etc)…we were hungry so we started eating when we found not one, but two pieces of hair on the pork chops… we let the pork away, which by the way was named ,,steak” by the owner… and we try to find the ribs: surprise, no ribs we took the menu and we realized that not just the ribs are missing. We didn’t had the sausage, we didn’t had the pancetta, no gyros, but we had some chicken breast (which wasn’t in the menu) so we went to the waiter (remember also the owner) and tell him that he might have made a mistake because that’s not what we ordered. We told him the things that are missing and he said ,,yes, I know you don’t have ribs I put you chicken instead” ,,ah, no pancetta, I know, but I give you the ,,steak” (which was a dry pork chop -see in photos-)” ,,no sausage and gyros? Oh, sorry mistake of the kitchen? I will tell them to give you the sausage, just wait” we were shocked. We came back to the table and started eating the chicken souvlaki which seem the most eatable thing, and surprise… we found another hair. That was the thing that make us say stop to this all mess. We showed him the hair, he took it and went to the kitchen… we told him we want to pay for the drinks and the meze and we want to go, we are not waiting anymore for the missing sausage and gyros, we had enough. His attitude completely changed in that moment: he stated saying that he was really nice to us and we need to pay the whole bill. By the way, that platter was 55€ (really big price for Greece and HUGE PRICE FOR WHAT WE GOT). He stat saying that we had the souvlaki and we eat the fries so we must pay for what we had. We didn’t want to make a huge circus in there so we said, alright, we will pay 25€ maximum for the ,,platter”, because we wanted to leave that place as soon as possible. He insisted to give us the gyros and one sausage in a to go box… so we took it to give it to the cats. The total was 46€ (2 Fanta lemon, one meze platter and almost half price for the big fail platter). Off course the POS wasn’t working so we payed next street (as he told us) at the Travell agency which was also his place. Horrible experience. Huge and unjustified prices. Awful food and really bad atmosphere. If you want some good food and nice service go far far away from this...

I had one of the worst dining experiences of my life at this restaurant. With just 30 minutes left before heading to the airport, we decided to have a quick dinner at this place, conveniently located across from our hotel. The atmosphere was chaotic — loud karaoke, plate smashing, and an overwhelming amount of noise, which we didn’t mind at first, assuming it was part of the local vibe.

However, in the middle of our meal, the owner approached our table and told us we were speaking too loudly and should lower our voices. This was shocking, considering the noise coming from the rest of the restaurant. We felt humiliated, singled out, and discriminated against. It was an incredibly upsetting way to end what had been a wonderful trip to Corfu.

I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a respectful and welcoming environment. There are plenty of other restaurants in the area where you’ll be treated with basic courtesy — this is not...

My partner and I had dinner here the other day, I asked for a hamburger menu, my partner for spaghetti Bolognese. The food was ready very quickly. The burger and fries were outrageously inedible, as was my partner's spaghetti bolognaise.

We finished dinner and within ten minutes I was throwing up on the street.

We went back to complain, but we couldn't expect anything good. The owner was annoyed, even though we told him that we were not asking for a refund, just that these dishes were inedible and there was something wrong with the quality.

The owner became even more phlegmatic and hinted at which country we came from and phlegmatically commented in our native language: "To your health" and it is indeed alcohol. (We had a beer.)After that he said that we must have eaten something bad. (We haven't eaten in four hours.) Not once did he say he was sorry and he said the problem was with us.
