We stayed at Vizantio for 2 1/2 days, and had a nice stay until the last night. Before I get to that, I'd like to address some major things. The owner is not very good at English, so there will be a slight language barrier unless you are/speak greek. He's hard to communicate with, and is a busy man. ||||At 2:40 AM, water started pouring down from the top floor. My room was not affected, but the noise and the chaos in the hallways prevented us from sleeping. We went to investigate and water was pouring down the stairs because of a broken pipe in Room 6.||||We tried helping the people in Room 6 by carrying their bags to the street, and trying to close the valve to the pipe, without luck though. The night was terrible, and we did not get much sleep, which is understandable since the entire 1st floor was flooded, and the guests were all awake. ||||The owner was hard/almost impossible to reach on his phone as he had a meeting on Mykonos in the morning, and the Fire Department was nowhere to be seen. It was a long night, but the Owner's son and two friends kept everyone company and chatted everyone up, while the maid and the owner cleaned the room on the 1st floor. A disaster to say the least.||||However; the rooms are nice for the price, beds are decent, wifi is great, and the placement of the hotel is spectacular. Good place to stay if you're backpacking. Overall, it'll very much be a night to remember, but in the end, it is no ones fault.||||We had a nice chat with the owner's son, who is very outgoing and nice. ||||So to summarise, good hotel, bad luck for us. We left the hotel with a bit of a hurt foot (because my father tried to stop the leak and hurt himself) and an experience to remember. If you look past the water leak, our stay was nice and the rooms were...
Read moreNot only did he NOT give us our room which had been booked 4 months in advance. ||He insists on trying to CHARGE us a fee for not showing up!!||This is the most outrageous thing I've ever experienced. ||||We booked our stay at Vizantio Apartments in February looking very much forward to our stay at the cosy hotel.||When we arrived in the evening after 6 hours of travelling we met the hotel-owner. ||At first he wouldn't recognise that we had a reservation. He told us that he didn't have any free rooms and that we should leave immediately. He was very rude and stated several times that we clearly had no idea what we were doing. When we finally managed to convince him of our reservation, he all of a sudden did remember us and our booking but told us, that another couple had rented our room now as they were staying for a longer period of time than us.||He said that his friend had a hotel not so far away at which he might be able to find us a room for the right price. ||We didn't want anything to do with him at that point and left. ||||The day after we received an email from booking.com, that he had informed them that we didn't show up and therefore we would have to pay a cancellation fee of 100€. We spoke to booking.com and explained the situation. They were VERY helpful and contacted him again.||He then stated that we had showed up, but didn't like our room and left. Which still entitles him to a cancellation fee. ||||At this point the situation seems absurd. ||||Do yourself a favour and avoid...
Read moreDo not book your room here! The stay in this hotel was the most disgusting experience i ever had. It all starts with the most unfriendly host i ever met during my vacation in Greece and my whole live. He is sitting in the lobby with his naked feet on the desk and the first thing he mentions before even saying hello is that he wants you to pay now. Paying is only possible in cash, which is okay because it is mentioned before but you never get a receipt. When asking for it the host gets angry and pissed but still does not hand out one. The rooms are totally different to the shared pictures. Very old, dirty and small. In the bath and shower there is hair everywhere and even the shampoo/bodywash is already used. Beds are very uncomfortable and on the bedsheets there are unidentifiable stains. It seems like cleaning the rooms only contains emptying the trash and changing the towels. The rooms are so noisy that you could think the neighbours are living in the same room. When people are coming home the whole staircase is flooded by noise and light that shines into your room. The only slightly positive thing is the location. You can walk to the city center and port in about 5-10 minutes. But that's just a small positive side issue among all the negatives. Even if i will repeat myself i have to warn you: Never book your room here if you want to enjoy your...
