Palazzo Santa Maria - Historic Hotels of Europe — Hotel in Municipality of Syros and Ermoupoli

I was thoroughly impressed by Palazzo Santa Maria from start to finish. This extraordinary historic hotel was recently created in the 150 year old restored home of a prominent citizen in Ermoupolis, Syros. The restoration of this Neoclassical building includes recovering wall frescoes and paintings and refurbishing built in furniture and doors. Your entry into this building transports you in time. We thoroughly enjoyed learning from the owner and his son about the building's history and their restoration efforts. Nicolas was available to help with whatever we needed and was a wonderful source of information. The physical surroundings, amenities, service, pristine cleanliness, and all aspects of the hotel are absolutely tops. And, we slept soundly on a fantastic mattresses in a completely quiet room. Excellent renovation work 100% worthy for this historical and enlisted as Monument building. The quality and extreme care to every detail from the owner reflects his long time experience to the hospitality business and a passionate love as giving back to his homeland a "jewell" which I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to stay for some days! We stayed at Plazza Santa Maria for four nights and absolutely loved it. The place is beautiful, cozy, and tastefully decorated, with every detail thoughtfully chosen. Located in a quiet area, it offers the perfect atmosphere for relaxation.
