Well, It’s a beautiful hotel, Stunning property and surroundings, The rooms are also great and the breakfast is amazing, But- There are quite a lot of things that were just not good or not up to the standards you expect for the price you pay, It’s a beautiful hotel, But you also expect quite something when you pay this amount. The hotel wasn’t that full due to the corona crisis, I booked a sea view room, We got a room with no sea view at all, Just trees, I told them that it wasn’t what we expected and after my complaint they gave us a different room with a beautiful view, I only don’t understand why they didn’t gave us that in the first place with an empty hotel.
Also we really felt scammed by the hotel with our pcr test, The hotel has a hotel doctor who can do the pcr test ( as ofcourse we needed one to return home) it was really one big nightmare, They charged us 300 euro’s for a pcr test, I told them this was ridiculous especially with a lot of tourist coming this summer you do need some service for your customers, As most of them would all need a pcr test for returning to their home, You can’t let them pay such an amount, They were not flexible at all, I told them I wanted to book a company myself ( they charge 60 euro’s in Athens and 80 for at home testing) but the told me they wouldn’t help me with booking a different company as they wouldn’t allow this in the hotel, So the only option for us was booking the pcr test for 300 euro, Also we told them we really needed it the next day before 3pm and they promised us we would definitely have it by then (the doctor was so extremely unprofessional and rude, after our pcr test he asked if we could pay in cash) And he didn’t had the test ready at 3pm the next day!!! We almost missed our flight as he also forgot to put a time on our pcr result ( and we told them we needed one within 24 hours prior to our flight so you do need a time on it) it was such an hassle and very bad experience, it really ruined our experience for us.
Also the bathroom wasn’t clean at all, Behind the bathtub there were all long black hairs so they didn’t clean properly ( i’m blonde) you do expect this in this covid time.
I asked prior to our arrival if we could visit the Acropolis, They told us yes, When we wanted to go ( when already there) they told us it was only allowed to visit in the weekend ( why not tell this before coming so we could have adjust our dates) the staff doesn’t communicate well.
My boyfriend wanted to book the gym, All time slots were already taken, As people can book their time slots already 2 days in advance, This is really unfair and ridiculous!! You pay so much money for a room and then thee time slots are already taken before you arrive, There was only one left at 6.30 in the morning.
Food at Avra lounge was horrible and so expensive ( 32 euro for a pasta) I do expect higher prices from a Four Seasons but this is ridiculous. Food at the pool is also very bad, Helios is very good though.
Overall I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone, As they made a lot of mistakes, And the case with the pcr test was really ridiculous, Also the staff doesn’t communicate properly, This should really be improved for a hotel of...
Read moreUnbelievably Poor Hygiene, Horrible Service, and Cheap Money-Making Tactics: The Worst Four Seasons Experience Ever
Our stay at Four Seasons Athens has been an absolute nightmare and by far the worst experience we’ve ever had with the brand. As loyal patrons of the Four Seasons, we have always trusted the chain for its world-class service, luxury, and peace of mind. However, this property has completely shattered those expectations with its shocking incompetence, lack of basic hygiene, and downright petty behavior.
Let’s start with the hygiene—or rather, the complete lack of it. On my very first day, I used a face towel only to discover it was full of hair. Grossed out but assuming it was a one-time oversight, I moved on. But guess what? It happened again the next day with other towels! This is not just a minor inconvenience—it’s a revolting and unacceptable failure that makes me question how seriously this property takes cleanliness. Four Seasons is supposed to be synonymous with luxury, not disgust.
And then there’s the service—or lack thereof. We had breakfast included in our stay, and on the first couple of days, we were able to enjoy it in our room, as is standard policy at Four Seasons properties worldwide. However, after that, we were abruptly refused the option of in-room breakfast and told it was no longer allowed. Every morning turned into a tiresome argument, explaining to the staff that this is a very normal Four Seasons policy. Despite this, the staff continued to argue with us and made our mornings an exercise in frustration. Such confusion and harassment, every single day, are completely unacceptable and do not belong at a brand like Four Seasons.
To top it all off, the hotel has the audacity to charge a €6 delivery fee for in-room dining. While the amount may be trivial, this kind of cheap, petty tactic to squeeze extra money out of guests is absolutely unthinkable for a luxury brand. This is the kind of nonsense you’d expect from a budget chain like Holiday Inn or Ibis, not Four Seasons.
Combining these problems—poor hygiene, horrible service, and ridiculous money-making schemes—has completely marred our experience. This is not the Four Seasons we know and love. It has left us questioning not just this property but the brand as a whole.
We will definitely never return to this property and are seriously reconsidering our loyalty to the Four Seasons brand altogether. If this is the direction the brand is heading, it won’t be long before Four Seasons becomes indistinguishable from a Marriott or Hilton.
Four Seasons Athens needs a complete overhaul in management and service. This experience was beyond disappointing—it was infuriating and utterly unacceptable. I strongly advise future guests to avoid this property until serious...
Read moreYears ago you will find a review from me where I write that this is the best hotel I've ever been to. It has only gotten better. ||The only thing that is more beautiful than this hotel, its location, its gardens, its rooms, is the kindness, professionalism and grace of the staff who work there. ||After coming to the hotel back in pre-Covid times I always knew that I wanted to come back for an important life event - a wedding say or a birthday. When that opportunity came up this year, after considering many locations, I chose the Four Seasons Astir Palace and I could not be happier, or more content with my choice. The most important thing in choosing a venue for me was that my guests, friends and family would love the experience, and would remember it forever - much as I have always remembered this very very special place. ||In planning my event I have to say I was hard work. I had really high expectations. I was incredibly detail orientated. But I have to say that the team exceeded my impossibly high expectations delivering the most incredible life changing event possible. I mean it. ||I give very deep thanks to Adam who led the project for my event. Adam thank you for such hard work and for caring so much. Thank you for putting up with me. Adam leads a team which puts on events for hundreds, thousands of people, but executed the planning for my series of (small!) gatherings with the utmost attention to detail and perfection. I will always be grateful for what you did for me and my friends, Adam. ||On the ground my weekend was organised by the incredible Antonis and his colleague Claudia. Antonis everyone loved working with you and you were always there with not just the most kind approach, but you made everything happen so magically and perfectly. You cared so much. I hope one day I can thank you for how much energy, dedication, and perfection you brought to the weekend. ||A very special mention must go to Marita who is the head concierge. There is a reason why the Four Seasons Astir Palace is named the best hotel in Greece - and awarded as such. I think its because of you. ||The hotel manager, Mr Regad, manages the equivalent of a small country. ;) However even given how small my particular events were he took extraordinary efforts to ensure me, and each and every one of my guests, felt honored and priveleged to be at his property. He is a true gentlemen in every epitome of the word. ||This place is incredibly special. It’s very very beautiful and the staff are the most magical part. You will not find better in the entire world. You won't. I do hope that life finds me a way to thank the incredible people who work at this enclave of peace, tranquility and joy in our crazy world. ||Just go. ||Always...
