Faros Residence Adults Only — Hotel in Sami Municipality

We had two weeks in Faros Residence in Fiskardo and have already booked a return next year that’s how much we loved it. The apartment was beautiful but what truly blew us away was the incredible terrace and breathtaking views. We spent hours just relaxing and watching the boats come and go, it was so peaceful and calming. The swimming pool though small was perfect for cooling off and my wife often had it all to herself. It felt like a private oasis. One of the biggest highlights was the daily servicing of the apartment, fresh bedding and towels throughout our stay made it feel like a luxury hotel while still having the comfort and privacy of a self contained space. A special thank you to Violtza (hope the spelling is right!) who came daily to clean, she was so kind and friendly and clearly took pride in her work. It was such a treat having her around. All the staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming, from assisting with our luggage and shopping on arrival to helping us with next year‘s booking dates. They truly went above and beyond to make our holiday special. The location is perfect, just a five minute walk to Fiskardo port where you’ll find a fantastic selection of restaurants. We didn’t have a single bad meal, every place had wonderful food and lovely staff. The positives are that the apartment (8) is enormous and spotlessly clean. The view from the massive terrace is spectacular, and the location is just a ten minute walk from the centre of the village. There is also ample parking. ||The air conditioning in the bedroom was leaking so we couldn’t use it, and the overflow for the air con in the lounge was a bucket on the terrace which kept spilling over and made the terrace slippery. There was also no light in the bedroom - only bedside lamps so it was very dark. These points didn’t really detract from our stay, which was overall enjoyable, but should be addressed. ||However, the main problem for us is that despite this being advertised as ‘adults only’, there were noisy children in both the apartment above and the one below us. We did bring this up with the property both during our stay, and on check out, and we were told that they had family visiting so ‘what could they do?’ The answer is not to sell something that they cannot provide to paying guests. ||We were told on checkout that they would consider a partial refund, but we heard nothing back. If you want an apartment with the best views in Fiscardo - come here! The Residence is an old and beautifully converted villa behind the main Faros Suites, up some steepish steps or it can also be reached (less steeply) via a road behind. Apartment 109 is amazing and very atmospheric, with antique furniture and artworks everywhere. The website pictures hardly do it justice. Best of all is the huge balcony, facing two ways and taking in the island of Ithaka and the mainland hills in the distance. We could hardly drag ourselves away, but the village, harbour front, restaurants and bars are a pleasant five-minute stroll along the coast, passing a small beach. No breakfast is provided, but plenty of coffee and tea are supplied, the kitchen is very well equipped, and the apartment is fully serviced each morning, and I mean fully - on the first day we were reprimanded for washing up our breakfast dishes! There is also a pool for the sole use of Residence guests. Fiscardo is a wonderful place to visit and this must be one of the best...
