The good parts are the staff are very nice, the place is clean (apart from probable bugs I mention below), and the hostel is quiet and peaceful. Just what you want for a one night stop before flying. You do hear aeroplane noise from the airport but it didn’t bother me that much and was not overly loud (I had ear plugs).
The bad bits were: the electric shower was I think broken with no hot water and water flowing out the side of the shower head. It was also cold. The flow rate was good though so it didn’t bother me that much. the sink tap is loose and spins when you try and turn the tap on and off. Not a big deal. there isn’t a plug socket by each bed. Not a big deal. on Hostelworld it says they operate free airport transfers from 5am. Main reason we booked. When we checked in the man on reception said transfers only run from 6am. Luckily we had emailed when we booked to confirm 5am so eventually they agreed but it wasn’t a great experience having to negotiate that when it is supposed to be their policy and had already been agreed on email. and lastly, unfortunately today after staying there I am covered in many bites which do seem like bed bug bites to me. I spent a week in Guatemala in many hostels and hadn’t been bitten anywhere else. Obviously I can’t conclusively say it was this hostel and I’m sure hostels do get this from time to time given how many people pass through, but I do believe the place had bed bugs when I visited which bit me maybe 15 times, so hopefully they get that treated. The rest of the hostel was very clean so I am sure it is probably a...
Read moreConvenient location within walking distance to/from the airport during the daylight hours, very poorly lit roadway leaving the airport. We took an Uber from arrivals for 22qtz. The community where this hostal is located is gated so look for a big gate with guard shack. Tell the guard where you're going and they'll phone the hostal. If you're arriving before 21:00 it is possible to arrange free transport by the hotel, we arrived around midnight. Staff at hotel were super nice and arranged our transport to Antigua. Breakfast was good and filling. Lots of coffee. The facility was clean and airy with lots of sitting areas to relax. Our room was large and had a very spacious balcony with comfy patio chairs. The shower floor was very slippery and water was on the cool side but refreshing. If noise is an issue for you then have your earplugs handy, this place is just a few blocks from the airport after all. There's not really any restaurants in the vicinity, we grabbed a bite at...
Read moreOur stay here couldn't have been better! We were picked up from the airport on arrival at no cost, and the owner dropped us off to the airport the next day at 4:30 am also at no cost! The hosts were so lovely. As we were missing the included breakfast due to the early start, they offered to cook it up for our dinner - eggs, beans, cheese, plantain and bread/corn crackers +coffee/tea. Delish! |The private room with ensuit was everything we needed, clean and comfortable. Good hot water for the shower, good Wi-Fi, quiet, could hardly hear the planes. It literally is 1 min away from the airport! We also saw the dorms which looked great too.|We would...
