Hostal Los Volcanes — Hotel in Guatemala City

My only complaint is that the website isn't clear that the $19 "bedroom" is a shared dormitory room. The sign on the wall at the hostel makes this clear, but the website doesn't. The room had bunk beds to accommodate about 12 people, though in my case there was only one other person staying in the room, and it was fine.||||There's free breakfast and it's close to the airport with a free ride to or from the airport (which is super close anyway), which makes it ideal if you're just staying one night for a flight. There's a kitchen with a microwave etc. so you can make your own food there too. The staff are friendly.||||The entire street has a locked gate you have to enter to get in with a guard to let you in. I stayed at Los Volcanes on both my way in and out of Guatemala via Guatemala City. Both times it was very clean, staff was very friendly, and everything was well done. The first time I had a private room with a shared bathroom, and the second I had a private bathroom as well. Honestly the shared bathroom was just fine. If you want more privacy though, the room with a private bathroom is located in a separate building. The hostal is located in a secure area with a gated entrance, so it is very safe. I was there on a holiday and the other folks I met on the street were very friendly and let me join them for fireworks. The house and room are ok, not special but pleasant. As it is near the airport, coming straight from there is expected. There are no stores nearby, and no currency exchange available. The attendant was amicable, and we ordered delivery for meals. We had a severe misunderstanding when I rode with others to GUA to change for Qs, and returning to the van in 3 minutes found I was abandoned there for no good reason then got circular answers when confronting later.
