L’Aurora Inn is a hotel directly by the international airport in Guatemala City. The hotel was nice and very typical. Thankfully the concierge spoke English and the staff were very kind and accommodating. Due to being a hotel only a 5 minute walk from the airport they gave guests the option for a free shuttle to the airport at anytime which I definitely took advantage of. They also give you included breakfast at the hotel even packing snacks for you for your flight if you ask them. For example they gave us our breakfast in the morning at 5:45 right before we left for our shuttle in a brown bag and it was nice with orange juice, cookies, an apple, and a couple more things. The hotel itself was definitely hard to find since it was hidden by a gate but as long as you put the location in Google Maps correctly you will reach the hotel. The hotel room was nice with comfy beds, a large TV, and an all encompassing bathroom. The hotel even does dinner(not included) if you don’t want to go out late at night since the area is a little shadier. The main flaw of the hotel is the WiFi. The WiFi was insanely slow and I could barely do any work in the hotel, so if you need to some last minute flight changes or something urgent that requires WiFi I would suggest you find another hotel close by. Lastly before we went to bed we were able to watch the sunset from the roof of the hotel and it was beautiful as you could see Volcan Agua, Volcan Fuego, and a lot of other parts of Guatemala City. While L’Aurora Inn wasn’t perfect by any means it was still a good hotel with a friendly staff and nice rooms so if you have an early flight and want a hotel neighboring the airport I would definitely recommend...
Read moreWe stayed here for a quick overnight before an early flight, and while the room was nice, our morning experience was a disaster. When I turned on the shower to warm up, it suddenly started spraying water everywhere. I understand that things like this can happen, but the way the situation was handled was completely unprofessional.
Instead of simply moving us to another room so we could get ready, they sent multiple people in and out of our room to try to fix it—while my husband was still inside trying to get dressed. I told them I needed to shower, and their solution was to offer me a dirty room instead. On top of that, while my husband was trying to eat the breakfast they had delivered, he had to keep moving so workers could pass by for the repair.
This all happened at 6:30 AM, and we were checking out at 7:30 AM. The hotel easily could have waited to do the repairs after we left, but instead, they made our last hour there chaotic and stressful. To make matters worse, the breakfast was cold and overly salty, adding to the frustration.
A hotel stay is supposed to be about comfort and convenience—this was neither. We won’t be...
Read moreWe stayed here twice during our trip to Guatemala. The proximity to the airport, friendliness of front desk staff, breakfast, and rooms are all great features. The beds are very comfortable and rooms were clean and modern.
However the hotel seems understaffed especially in the evenings. It took a full hour to check in the first night, the second we waited in the lobby for 25min before anyone was available to start check-in. This is not the fault of the front desk person, but since there was only one person doing all the check-in work, driving the airport shuttle, managing guest concerns/requests, etc there are going to be delays. This is not acceptable for an airport hotel catering to busy travelers.
The second night they also picked up our party of 8 in a 5-seater (only 4 open seats with the driver) so we had to pile in on top of each other.
If upper management makes changes to address these issues this could be an...
