Hosteria del Centro — Hotel in Santiago Atitlán

Beautiful first stay in Lake Atitlan Area, I loved that it is located within the community, a full immersion. This is a great place for anyone on a budget, the room was clean and the hospitality given by Heidi was really wonderful, if you're a simple easy going traveler that goes with the flow this is perfect, very grateful to have stumbled upon it after my initial San Pedro plans fell through I decided to stay here for a couple of days and walkabout the town, and hike Volcan Toliman with guide Adolfono (reception can connect you) I had a typical dinner here one night and it was fantastic, loved the big kitchen avbl with couch and balconies as well. You enter the hostel through the parking lot / garage, the room is small with a window overlooking a large living room-kitchen, apart from the bed there is no furniture, no air conditioning or even a fan. We ask for a fan and we get a small one. The room doesn't look clean, it's stuffy and ugly, just a tragedy. The shared bathroom is quite decent but in the shower water is very cold. The staff (the family that own the hotel) is kind, especially the old lady who is very polite...

Friendly staff, respectful and caring, kitchen was awesome, balcony was great. Room was not secure (window needed a lock), but the family was always around and we felt very safe....
