Mundo Abu was one of my favorite places I stayed in Guatemala. It has the feel of a home stay and with only a few people staying there, it’s easy to feel like your part of the family. Carlos and Gerson go above and beyond to accommodate and make sure you’re happy.

Read moreThis place is quite unique - a bit chaotic, yet surprisingly quiet and peaceful, boasting stunning views of Lake Atitlán and its surrounding mountains. We stayed in one of the three triangle houses, which are spacious, well equipped and have an amazing view over the lake. However, there is no running water in the rooms. While there is a toilet, there are no facilities for washing your hands or brushing your teeth, so you'll need to go outside to access the shared bathroom facilities. Although this isn’t a significant inconvenience, it’s something to keep in mind when booking. Additionally, only one shower has hot water, which means you may occasionally have to wait for other guests to finish before you can take yours. On the positive side, you have direct access to the lake, and the location is a short walk from the lively center of San Juan, while still being nestled in a tranquil spot surrounded by nature. It’s definitely one of the best options...
