I feel saddened to give such a pitifully low rating, but I'm left with no other choice. I also feel that even a 1 star is a bit much for my experience, but the rating doesn't go any lower. I stayed at Novotel for just one night, and I had great expectations. However, I was completely disappointed from the get go. There were a couple of positives though, and I'd like to talk about those before I move on to the problems. 1. Excellent location. You can pretty much walk to almost all the main attractions in Budapest. 2. The staff was friendly. 3. Breakfast had decent options. Now the problems. 1. The room was not maintained well. The carpet had stains. 2. One of the lamps had a broken bulb. 3. The comforter provided with the extra bed had dust and other people's hairs stuck on it. 4. The AC was making grinding noises, and didn't even cool the room. 5. The cupboard was honestly too small for anything. 6. The TV could use an update. 7. The bathroom mirror light had a cracked protective plastic shell. 8. The sink didn't drain very well. 9. The shower kept sliding down since the locking mechanism was broken. 10. The same state of disarray was observable in the corridors on my floor. The room servicing trolleys with all the used linen and towels was stored in the open, and a crib was just stowed away next to my door. And this remained the state of things from my check-in until my check-out. 11. Although breakfast tasted good, the plates were way too small, and most of the items weren't labeled. It isn't a problem for frequent travellers and those acquainted with the continental breakfast menu, but for first-timers it would probably be a nightmare to figure out which is what. This was not my first Novotel experience. I have stayed at Novotel in the past, in Singapore. It was arguably one of my best 4-star hotel stays ever. However, this particular Novotel can never be compared to the one from my previous experience, not with the number of flaws I have seen. I don't think I can even call it a four-star hotel. At best, it can be ranked as a 3-star hotel, but then that would make it overpriced compared to the competition and thus you would really be better off choosing some other hotel.

We were invited to a Hungarian wedding and stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. I really liked my experience here. The location is great. In the city center close to almost everything. specially at the hotel restaurant you have the amazing view of the famous Parliament building right across the river. The rooms were clean and cozy with a free tea and coffee service and a bottle of water to welcome you. The bathroom had a tub and shower box separately which I really appreciated. they were hot days so the air conditioner in the room was quite pleasant. Breakfast was great. We had almost everything available. from bacon and eggs to different kinds of beans, sausages, bread, yogurt, jam, fruit salads, cereal, hot and cold drinks, etc. we had one meal at the restaurant too and it was really good. Generous portions and pleasant taste. the good thing was that unlike many other hotels the kitchen was open until 22:30 which was really useful . The staff was very helpful and friendly. The only thing we didn’t actually like and were almost surprised about it was that room service opened our door at 8:30 in the morning to clean! we were absolutely exhausted and hearing someone opening the door woke us up and unfortunately we couldn’t sleep again. Then we put the “Please don’t disturb” sign at the door and the same thing happened around one hour later!! It sounded unprofessional to me.

First what you notice about the hotel it is his location and straight view of the parliament. It is right on the river. Rooms are fairly good, equipped with kettle and some tea and coffee, nice bathroom with shower and bathtub. Toilet is separate. Breakfast is good, has all basic things without anything exciting. They say there is fitnes and sauna, sauna is OK, Fitness basically does not exist, it is just 3 things there. Staff is nice and friendly, there is parking in front for 15€ per day. Hotel food is OK, what can be improved is that from 2 elevators only one works, so there is a cue in the morning, and also does not go the fitness level.

Every year I spend (business and private) 70 to 80 nights in Accor properties all over the world in several brands (Ibis, Mercure, Novotel, Adagio, Sofitel, ect.) As a Platinum member of their loyalty program, I always get upgraded to the Executive rooms. After two out of five nights in the Novotel Danube this now means a room on the forth floor with a nice view on the river and the parlement. Walkkng distance to the centre on the other side of the river is about 30 minutes. Public transport (tram, bus and Metroline 2) is only five minutes from the hotel. So, the location is good. A mini bar with four drinks a day is included. WiFi is dependable and the room and bathroom are clean. The staff is showing professional courtesy. Being in an older building, some noise issues (slamming doors or hearing guests move in the room above) is to be expected. There are however a couple of direct solvable points for improvement. The water pressure is very bad, with only a small trickle of water coming from the shower, even with the Eco stand off. The same from the tap above the sink. And when you flush the toilet, so little water is released, that you have to flush two to three times to get your bigger business out of sight. This sink in the bathroom in room 440 isn't draining very well. The carpet there is worn, full of stains and should be replaced. There is not really an airconditioning system, but an airflow vent system that cools down the room, but not under 25 degrees (It is 33 to 36 degrees in Budapest now). Choice at breakfast good be better. If the price would have been mid-range (€50 to €100), I would have given four out of five. But since I pay a top range price of more than €100 a night, I expect the mentioned issues to be addressed. And since I have been reading the same comments from guests in the past, not enough has been done with the feedback until now. In a four star hotel you expect the management to pick up on the known issues...

I slept a total of 3 nights in this hotel. I didn't look at any of Google's reviews, but this hotel is really bad except for the Capitol view. Let's go to another hotel for the same amount of money. When I entered the room on the first day, there was a bucket on the table that was left to eat. I went down to the reception and protested, but they didn't even apologize, saying they didn't know. Maybe the cleaning lady left it behind. The next day, the cleaning lady did not give shampoo, soap, etc. I didn't even fill up the coffee and tea. I complained on the phone to the reception and said I'd bring it to her rather than forget it. There were no apples, and when I said, "Why don't we give you all the shampoo?" I said, "Don't yell at me. I never yelled and I didn't know the hotel staff would say this to me proudly without an apology. For a four-star hotel, the service wasn't even like a local motel. It was my second trip to Hungary, but I felt bad because of the falling service and my image of Hungary is crumpled. On the last day, the cleaning lady doesn't even clean the room and brings me a towel. Conclusion: Don't go unless it's Capitol View. I'm going through only unpleasant things. It's not a four-star hotel. Here. I'm looking for a Google ID to write a postscript.
