Pros: 🌟 Facilities: Excellent pools, saunas, and thermal baths. 🌟 Room: Comfortable, but be prepared to wipe the floor due to a lack of shower curtains. 🌟 Breakfast: Good continental spread, but lacks vegetarian egg options. 🌟 Bike Rental: Available for about 3000 HUF for a full day.
Cons: 👎 Staff Communication: No English spoken and unwilling to use Google Translate. Rude and demeaning attitude. 👎 Buffet Dinner: Below 4-star standards. No free drinks, not even tap water. Limited vegetarian options.
Detailed Experience: The Good: Facilities: The hotel offers a variety of pools, saunas, and even a thermal bath, which we thoroughly enjoyed.
Room: Our room was to our liking, but the absence of shower curtains meant we had to wipe the floor after showering.
Breakfast: A standard continental breakfast with a variety of cheeses, meats, and salads. However, the eggs are not vegetarian-friendly as they're cooked in the same pan and with the same utensils as meat.
Bike Rental: We rented bikes for a full day for around 3000 HUF, which was a nice way to explore the town.
The Bad: Staff Communication: The hotel staff doesnt speak any English which would be fine if they had at least attempted to communicate and understand, but their general attitude was rude and demeaning. I travel a lot off the beaten path, so I had experienced none English speaking staff before, and we could almost always solve the issue using google translate. Here the staff didn't even want to look at the translation on my phone. For example, when trying to book a massage, the wellness receptionist on the first day told us to arrive the next morning and speak with her English speaking coworkers(although it was pretty obvious that we wanted to book a massage as this was the entire purpose of the desk, and we even showed her a google translation of "when is there a massage available"), the next day the same receptionist was there and with an annoyed attitude managed to tell us they were fully booked (maybe hoping we would give up and drop it), when pressed about the next day she reluctantly found us a massage slot, but only for one person, we of course tried to explain that both of us wanted a massage and then with a sigh and rolling of her eyes she found us another slot. Similarly when we tried to ask the kitchen staff if a dish was vegetarian they did not try to attempt to hear me out even when I asked using the German(which they do speak) word "Vegetarisch". All in all I would expect much higher service from a 4-star hotel, I am fine with the staff not speaking English, I am not fine with their attitude towards guests who don't speak German or Hungarian. I felt belittled and unwanted, which considering the amount I pay them for the service is ridiculous.
Buffet Dinner: The dinner buffet was disappointing for a 4-star hotel. No free drinks were offered, not even tap water. The vegetarian options were limited to plain rice, pasta with no sauce, and fresh vegetables, which are more like side dishes than main courses.
Final Thoughts: While the spa facilities were great, the overall experience was marred by the poor service. If you don't speak German or Hungarian, I'd recommend avoiding this hotel. We won't...

The water from both the sink and the bathtub came out yellow/brown. Our room had no phone, so as a single parent with my 3-year-old daughter, I had to take her with me to the reception in the other building. After a discussion, they said someone would check it the next morning. The receptionist came to our room, dismissing my concern by saying it was normal for the bathtub because of the thermal water, and as for the sink, we should just let it run for a long time.
In the middle of the night, a noise started in the bathroom—like an alarm that vibrated, got louder, paused, and repeated. It was impossible to sleep because it wasn’t a constant sound, and my body remained in a state of alert. I hoped it was the heating or ventilation and that it would eventually stop, but it didn’t.
In the morning, I had to go to reception again with my child (since, again, there was no phone in the room). They promised that someone would come at 8 AM to check the water and the noise. I waited in the room, but by 9 AM, no one had arrived. So, back to reception with my child. This time, I brought the receptionist with me and said I couldn’t stay in that room. He showed me another room and told me I could move there, but I had to pick up the key from reception myself. No offer to help with luggage or to bring me the key. So, once again, I packed up everything, carried it with my 3-year-old up to the next floor, only to find the door locked. I had to go back again to the reception in the other building to get the new key.
The new room was quiet, and—surprisingly—the water was perfectly clear in both the sink and bathtub, proving that the "thermal water" excuse was nonsense. This time it also had a phone, so at least I could have called.
The kids’ club staff only spoke Hungarian, with a cold attitude and no English communication possible.
I am a quiet person, not someone who looks for conflict. I remained polite, and after the exhaustion from lack of sleep and all the effort, I simply didn’t have the energy to argue. I asked if there would be any compensation, but I was dismissed—as if I should be grateful just to have received another room. I can't shake the feeling that if I had been louder, they would have taken me more seriously. This review is my outlet—I just needed to get this off my chest.

We felt safe and accepted by the staff, there was no problem with my wife and I wanting double bed.||Beware, the staff does not speak English at all. German and Hungarian. We had to make do with Google translator.||The hotel was full, and there was a problem to park. The hotel has it's own spa and thermal pool, but to be honest, I was disappointed. Only one jacuzzi, kind of cold, 37°C, and the relaxation pool was even colder, 32°C. The thermal pool was 39°C, but it did not help any of us with out skin or arthritis problems at all. All the thermal pool did was irritate our skin and made it worse. There are saunas and an ice room, but the air conditioning is horrible and we could not breathe in the hall leading to and from the saunas.||The hotel is old, used, so are the rooms. Everything was barely functioning, but there was nothing in the room, not even kettle, no tea, no coffee maker, nothing. Not even a minibar, let alone filled and free of charge. Zalakaros is a sleepy city, and the only thing you can do here is go to SPA, but like I said, we were horribly disappointed. The Zalakaros SPA is close, 5 min walk, but the prince of the hotel and the price of extra SPA just didnt sit with us well.||The food was 6/10, the beds 2/10 - terrible! and I am a young person!! - rooms 4/10, bathrooms 7/10, food 7/10, pools 6/10, thermal pool 3/10, saunas 4/10, service 9/10, location 10/10. ||I will not come back, neither I will recomend to go.
