I'll start by saying this is NOT a hotel nor a traditional Gasthaus. It is a house owned by an old couple that decided to offer a few rooms for tourists. I won't do my usual Pros and Cons because this is not a "typical" accommodation. The service was quite good but we were saved by their son I believe, who knew some english. The old couple knew only hungarian and a bit of German. We could communicate nevertheless. My father has problems with his back and so the couple offered us the room downstairs (not the one in the attic, 2nd floor, as we reserved) which was quite a nice gesture. I am not pretentious about beds (saw the other review here) and thought the beds were quite good. Maybe not so soft as the usual hotel bed but slept really well. There was free WiFi internet and was in fact one of the fastest and most reliable connections I've ever had in an accommodation. The bathroom had everything you might need. There was a kitchen available with fridge, tableware, plates etc. (shared with 2 other rooms in the attic but private downstairs). Wooden table with chairs outside were one can eat, drink or smoke. Breakfast is offered (which we didn't take because we had food bought already). It's not so far from city center (I think around 15 mins walking). There was a mini shop nearby if needed. Only reason I ranked average the value is because accommodation is usually cheaper in Hungary but the extra Euros are worth it (yes, they did accept payment in Euros by the way).||||Hope I covered everything. Bottom-line, a really nice place to stay where they try to impress you. Quite different to most hotels where you are just...
Read moreA group of us stayed there for a week and found the hosts most unfriendly which really sploit our time in Szeged. They were friendly until they had taken our money. Because there was a large group of us travelling we invited some friends in who dropped us at our accommodation. This caused the owners to immediately confront us with a memo (they don't speak English) asking us to remove our guests. Other incidents including barging into our room to turn off 2 lights leaving us in in low light. Also we were all without hot water for 24 hours. ||The 3 attic rooms are up some very steep stairs making luggage haulage difficult and dangerous. There is a common area for these rooms but no cooking facilities but there was some plastic cutlery. ||The downstairs rooms were spacious but dirty and dusty under the beds and basically anything above head height including numerous cobwebs.||Showers were inadequate and no water pressure in some. ||Overall we...
Read moreWe have spent here 2 nighst. Host was really nice to us, helped with everything, answered the questions we asked, even recommended some places to visit. We could speak in english with the host’s family (and as I heard they also spoke german), they were also in the house. City was really close -15mins walk, shop and restaurant is also reachable like in 2 mins…The whole house had a really nice family atmosphere. We could leave our car in the garden (closed parking lot), so it is very safe – for free. In the summer it is nice to sit at the tables in the garden. Good WIFI connection. I can recom-mend this place if you are looking for a great...
