Very bad experience. I had exams in Szeged, so I booked this hostel days in advance. I contacted them few days in advance to confirm that I’ll come. When I came to check in, this old lady started asking about negative covid test in half German half Hungarian language, and she basically kicked me out on the street. She didn’t even let me connect to the wifi, very negative person. She was repeating COVID TEST NEGATIV, POLICE I had an official approval from the Hungarian police that I can enter the country without a test (because I’m only staying for 48 hours), but that didn’t help. When I found public wifi, I called the guy who is in charge, explained what happened, but he said ‘the lady is the owner of the house, so if she doesn’t want to take you in, there is nothing I can do.’ I guess this lady thinks that she’s a bigger authority than Hungarian Police who gave me the official approval without a test. Very negative and unconvenient experience! They could have told me about the negative test before I came, instead of me ending up on the street a day...

Chris of OKSZI Vendeghaz and his mother were very very accommodating to us. I still recall my first phone call with him when I was just asking about their postal code so I can have something delivered there, and Chris took the initiative to ask me about "halal food". He asked me about details, asked me about our culture, and he took every action to make sure that we felt at home, and it truly did.
The place is a beautiful villa with multiple rooms. Very cozy. At night you have a clear view of the night's sky among the verdant lush of the garden Chris and his mother worked hard for.
I am writing this review three years later. I still remember every detail and I have mentioned the beauty of OKSZI Vendeghaz numerous times to family and friends. Chris and his mother have truly made our trip to Szeged very memorable. I am definitely stopping by the next time I pass by Szeged!
Kudos to Chris...
