Mariposa Beach Grove — Hotel in Agonda

I think the picture Ive attached serves as visual metaphor for the place. I genuinely fail to understand the good reviews, because even by the most basic standards this place fails on every level. The location certainly doesn't warrant all the other stuff you have to put up with while here. Service is non-existent, the staff loiters at the bar all day doing nothing and avoids any simple ask. Such hostile people have no business being in hospitality. The cleanliness and hygiene factor is abysmal - the linen is dirty, room has rolls of dust collected on objects. There's bugs on the bed and sheets.. I had umpteen itchy welts all over by the time we left here. The bathroom is teeming with insects and lack of proper facilities. Room: coffee/tea packets are replaced based on if they feel like it, same is the case with toiletries and towels. The noise from the AC is so loud , you'll contemplate lying in a pool of your own sweat just to get some sleep. Each room has a view but not private access, theres a common fencing for all rooms and the access to beach is through one opening in this fence Value for money: zilch, at 7k+ a night, you'll find much better places with the same beach view all along agonda. Food - 5/5 Service - pretty fast. Interaction with customer - 1/100

The food is amazing. Hats off to the chefs. But the whole experience was ruined by the rude waiter. We ordered sandwich which comes with a side of chips (mentioned in the menu, attached a picture for reference). When we asked for the chips (asked nicely, obviously) he said it doesn't come with breakfast. We asked if it comes with lunch And he kept getting irritated and repeated the same BS. Spoke to the receptionist and she said the same thing. It makes no sense that chips aren't served with sandwich when it is mentioned clearly on the menu! We would have understood if they didn't have stock or told us when we were ordering that they don't serve chips for breakfast although it's not their decision to make especially after mentioning it in the menu. Not like they compensated for the missing item! Honestly, it's not even really about the chips. just the way the waiter treated us right from last night's dinner and then today's breakfast. This is 9 in the morning! No one wants to get their morning ruined especially on vacation! Reallllly disappointed. Apart from that, food is great. I feel bad for the owner who has no idea how bad their staff is and is going to cost him/her the business. What's the point of making amazing food and treating the person eating it with...

I booked a room with 3 friends for two nights here and it was once of the best stay experiences I ever had.

Location and ambience - Its right at Agonda Beach. You can either sit just outside the room in a varandah kind of place with table and chairs or you can chill on sun loungers about 10m from the room under the trees with a beach view. They also have candle light tables.

Room - The room we booked was quite spacious with a bed (can accommodate 3), study table, cupboards, sofa, bedside tables, attached washroom and a beautiful ambience with warm white lights.

Service - Hands down the best service I have ever seen in a similar price range. We asked for extra mattresses in the room and received very high quality 2 mattresses free of cost. We ordered food whenever and wherever we wanted and it was served quickly (room or outdoors). They also booked a taxi for me to the airport. Basically all our small and big requests were fulfilled.

Food - There are few placed in South Goa with good food and we were lucky enough to find amazing food with reasonable price at our stay itself. My recommendations - chilly Paneer, Masala Nachos, Manchow soup, Kadhai Paneer. (we were all vegetarian but I am assuming that non vegetarian food would also be great here.
