I recently stayed at Hotel Sidharth in Agra and had a mixed experience. The hotel is conveniently located a stone's throw away from the Taj Mahal, which provided 24-hour police security—a great plus for families. The hotel was filled with many foreign tourists, adding to its lively atmosphere. While the rooms were generally clean and comfortable, I did encounter an issue with the plumbing. The basin pipe in the bathroom was not properly fixed, and the bathroom was stinky at times, though it was manageable with the exhaust fan.
On the positive side, I was pleasantly surprised by an upgrade from a regular room to an air-conditioned room. The hotel also offers a fantastic free luggage storage service after check-out, which was incredibly convenient.
The staff was friendly and accommodating, and the hotel owner, Mr. Sidharth, ensured a welcoming environment. Despite our late check-in, Mr. Sidharth arranged for one of his staff members to take a family picture of the Taj Mahal from the hotel terrace. The on-site restaurant offered a variety of delicious dishes, with a menu that caters well to vegetarians—a plus in a city known for its Mughal heritage. Additionally, the nearby market offers economical handicraft purchases, saving both time and money compared to visiting more popular markets like Sadar Bazar or Kinari Bazar.
I stayed for two days based on the hotel's overwhelming reviews, and while it may not be a 3-star or 4-star hotel, its services are comparable. Considering the price, the negatives can be overlooked. The rating should definitely be upgraded to at least 3-star, not 1-star. Overall, Hotel Sidharth has some great...
Read moreMe and my wife had an amazing experience with Hotel Sidhartha this end of October. The hotel is 5Km away from the Agra Cantt railway station. (Use Ola to reach the hotel. Rs. 120 only) The room was net and clean. Toileteries were available. Spacious enough. Had TV as well. Taj Mahal was literally 1 minute walk away from the hotel. Food was amazing too considering the price is very low. The receptionist was very helpful too. Rooftop was closed due to monkeys but they will open it for you on special request to take picture.s
Pros - Hotel room was neat and clean. Toileteries were available. Good and satisfactory food. Helpful receptionist. Hotel is very very near to Taj Mahal. Agra fort is only 2KM away from the hotel. Market is available outside the hotel. Autos are available outside the hotel. Gates were closed at night. Security was good. Taj Mahal is visible from the rooftop. Wi-Fi is available. Good cellular connectivity.
Cons - Due to Taj Mahal is near the hotel, you will listen the tourists coming and going.
Improvements needed - Telephones should be available on rooms. It is inconveient for coming down to request anything. Need Stable Wi-Fi connection. Debit/credit card or PayTM/Google Pay etc. should be available. The hotel is cash only but the ATM is available outside the hotel.
Definitely recommended and definitely coming back again with family again. Recommended for both tourists...
Read morefirst of all, this location is a very close walking distance to the taj mahal. so, if you want to get there at 6 am to get in line (i recommend you do this) it’s easy to arrange from this location.
however, the rooms are very dirty, even by indian standards. ours had stray hairs and dirt and stains in the sheets, there were several canisters of water just in the room with dirt and bugs floating in them for no apparent reason, and the bathroom was very difficult to manage. they also give you very little toilet tissue — i understand that local indians don’t tend to need toilet tissue, but if you’re a hotel you are catering to foreigners as well — understand that we in fact use toilet tissue.
the food in the hotel was not good at all. we ordered a thali, and the naan came out doughy/undercooked, and two of the curries were like warm as if they had been left out for several hours (a prime candidate for food borne illness).
also, the hotel advertises the rooftop where you can look at the taj mahal from the hotel, but the rooftop is locked off (apparently due to their monkey issues) so you can’t go up there. there are also no views from the rooms themselves, as the windows face the hotel’s courtyard. This is all fine, except that the location advertises taj mahal views (which you do not get...
