We booked an 18day stay at Bed&Chai after having seen the online pictures on Airbnb and reading the reviews. When we finally checked in to the Airbnb, we were shocked at the miserable, dirty and dingy state of the place. There was dirt everywhere, no cleaning had been done in weeks. The bathroom was deplorable. There was used almost finished toilet roll and no hand soap. We later found red ants in the bathroom! ||The bedcovers had old stains, the e headboard had a nail sticking out, the overhead lamp had its wire severed, the curtains were to dirty and sooty to handle. ||We made no attempt to move the curtains to check out the tiny dirt and bird poop covered balcony. The kitchen was in a similar state. ||Our room was attached to the kitchen and the dining area as a result we had all the cooking smells and the noise from the dining area.|| The long staying guests mentioned their rooms were not cleaned in a regular basis..only when they paid the cook to clean their rooms. Unlike other properties this property took the full amount before we moved in..one can only wonder why! When I asked if we could cancel the host said we needed to contact Airbnb directly. When I read the cancellation Airbnb policy it said we could complain but needed to leave the property asap. So we started hunting for another property and with the wedding season on in Delhi it was next to impossible. We eventually found another place but need to move to yet another place for two nights as they’re over booked for a wedding! ||I sent all these details and pictures as photographic evidence to Airbnb and they shared it with the host. The host refused to accept our complaint, Airbnb backed their host and out of the 420euros I spent on this filthy property, and stayed all of two nights in, we we will be reimbursed ONLY around 137 euros. Airbnb do not check any property for veracity of the description nor the photos provided by the host.||The host later had shared pictures of the property with the Airbnb but wouldn’t give permission for them to send them to me..I can only wonder why. Those pictures are probably from when the original French host ran the place.||I have written a review on the Airbnb but it probably won’t be put up as the host needs to review our stay first for it to go live. I have written directly to the host and she hasn’t answered to date. I had written to the host after the booking was made and never had an answer.||My advise to anyone considering Bed& Chai as a place to stay..avoid at all costs. A place that takes your money before you see the place and then denies all the facts and pictures is...
Read moreThe listings for Bed & Chai on Booking and Google are very misleading. Please read this if you are to book this year 2021.
The place is no longer owned by the French ladies who made it a place of comfort and ease. The B&B still has the original decor, but now owned by a local, the cleanliness and standards have not been maintained and the listings for the rooms have not been updated and are not realistic to what you experience when you reach.
Firstly Bed & Chai is located right next to a vetinary clinic, so expect the smell of disinfectant and the sound of dogs howling and barking through the night. The soundproof rooms are not sound proof at all. You can hear the constant beeping of the traffic on the main road it's located on. The balcony if you get a room on the top floor which is listed as a superior double is just a foot in size.
The rooms were relatively clean at least and the bed comfortable, thanks to the previous owners, but they are small. The duvet had a musky old smell and we had to ask the workers to bring us a shower mat, extra pillows etc. The bathrooms cleanliness however was questionable.
The rooftop Terrance no longer looks like the lush garden in the photos, it's been stripped of most of the plants and is now just a bare Terrance with 3 tables and a few plant pots dotted around.
The small cafe had a very limited menu and served the typical simple food like eggs, bread or porridge for breakfast. No fruit available.
However the staff and the chef's were very friendly and helped as they could but often at times the service was slow.
We originally booked to stay for a week but when we arrived we decided it would not be worth it. So we left after 2 days.
It's such a shame that Bed & Chai no longer lives up to its previous standards. But it's worse that the current owner could not be bothered to update the listings online and be truthful in what they are providing as a B & B and still charge almost 2.5k for a room that is below standard.
I'm sure for a traveller looking for a budget room and comunal kitchen it would be satisfactory for the close location to the city. But otherwise it's not worth the money they are asking for compared to other rooms you can get for the same price or for a 1k more stay in a 5 star that includes dinner and...
Read moreBy god's grace I didn't have to go through the miserable experience of staying at this property because they canceled my booking without any prior intimation.||||This property follows a very greedy malpractice of canceling the booking at the last moment if the booking is not done directly with them.||||I had booked the property via Agoda. and 4 days before the checking date they messaged me via agoda that they aren't able to reach me and my contact details are invalid.||I saw the message and called them to inform them that the booking was done via agoda and whatever contact info they received was via agoda.||It cannot be the case that I get booking details on my mobile number and email ID, but the property gets a different contact number. I have booked with agoda several times earlier and never faced any such issue.|| ||The owner of property Surbhi Sharma claims that it is a mandate to check contact info of the guest before check-in. I am a frequent traveler and I have never come across any property confirming contact details and canceling the booking for a stupid reason that the contact number was not reachable.||||When I asked the staff Satish why he canceled the booking without any intimation and why he didn't mention about the same on agoda, he said your booking is via agoda so check with them. If you want to book with us, book from our website. I asked him to match the price at which I had booked earlier and he said I will have to pay higher while booking from their website.||||If they are not interested in serving the bookings from different OTAs why the hell is their property listed on these platforms? ||||@Surbhi, before you bring out this point that I spoke with your staff disrespectfully let me tell you that yes, I did that AFTER you guys canceled my stay at the last minute without any prior intimation and ruined my...
