Finally went to Juggernaut for their famous breakfast. Going to Juggernaut is definitely an experience which one should try. Located in Kailash Colony, this is a massive restaurant as it occupies the whole building. Once you enter the place you feel pure with the robust smell of incense . They have some really nice teekas also kept in case one wants the whole experience. You take the elevator upto the main dining floors as the ground floor is for gift items , cakes etc. The lift is a bit tight but it's acceptable. They have 2 types of seating options - terrace which is on the top floor and indoor dining , which we opted for on the second floor.
The interiors of the restaurant are done up in a very traditional and tasteful way. The servers are also dressed in a classical south Indian way. We ordered food right away but the overall thing I noticed was that the food service took quite some time in general. Yes , the restaurant was occupied decently but not enough for such a long wait time. Eitherways by the time one orders we were served their complementary Rasam and Papadam . This is the perfect way to start the meal as it makes one salvate and triggers hunger aswell.
For drinks I had -
Oreo shake - The Oreo shake was really good but it took a really really long time to be served . By the time my dosa was served and I had already started eating , then it finally came. But eitherways the shake was really thick , frothy and had an abundance of Oreo in it. Rating this 4/5 due to the delay.
For food we had -
Dahi Vadai - Very nicely served Dahi Vadai was brought in a beautiful bowl. There were 2 big vadais which was doused in curd and cream with a bit of sugar , which gave it a wonderful flavour. It is a very heavy and rich dish but really delicious. Rating this 5/5.
Idli Vada - So this is something I generally always order when having South Indian food. Here it came in a massive plate with 2 small medu vadas and 1 big idli. For accompaniments there was Sambar , Coconut Chutney , Coconut and Mint Chutney and Tomato Chutney. They also serve a portion of Kesari Halwa with such dishes . The Sambar was fantastic , very light with a good dose of masala and vegetables. The chutneys were amazing aswell , all of them were really flavourful and tasty. The idli was classic and really well made. But the Vadas were fantastic, perfectly crispy on the outside and soft and airy on the inside . The kesari halwa was amazing aswell , perfectly sweetened and light. Rating this 5/5.
Mushroom Cheese Dosa - Generally I order Masala or Paneer Dosa but saw this really unique option of Mushroom Dosa. I opted for a cheese dosa style serving which one my opinion went perfectly with the Mushroom Masala filling . The dosa itself was super crisp and had tons of cheese in it which gave it a really nice flavour aswell. The Mushroom masala was a very malvani styled one with coconut and many masalas used in South Indian cooking. The combination of the dosa with the mushroom masala was just fantastic. This dosa is something unique and I highly recommend it , especially due to the south Indian style preparation of the mushroom masala.
All in all Juggernaut is a fantastic place and now it makes alot of sense to me why people love it and go here when craving for South Indian food. Highly recommend this place as it is definitely an experience. I just wish their service speed...
Read moreSome days back I went this place. The moment you enter you got aroma of some spices. The restaurant is on 2nd & 3rd floor. Thankfully they have lift(helped for my mother). In ground floor they sell spices and nariyal burfi. Nariyal burfi is damn famous. And you need to try. I’m sure you will not disappoint. I completely loved it. Walls are beautifully decorated. Well I need to find out either that was wall art or poster. Anyhow, At the time of entry they put chandan tilak along with roli on your forehead, which we all know how famous it is in South India. And even they beautifully decorate place with flowers. No doubt South Indian people are damn creative when it comes to creativeness. I always attract with the culture of South India. And yes! I travelled most cities of south India or you can say every city.😁
Anyhow, let me tell you most important thing.. which surprised me, that this place open at 6:30AM. Woah! Yes! They are ready to serve at 6:30! Completely impressed. I hardly know any restaurant which open at 6:30AM.
I went with my family. After seated, they served complimentary Rasam & papad. They told us they serve Rasam of lentil, which is good as that is light for stomach. Otherwise mostly restaurants serve tamarind rasam, after having which my throat pains. But I love this one. And when we complimented they even served again. Loved it.
Well, we ordered, Anaar Dosai Assorted which is quite famous, I loved it. The filling is of different types, Mushroom, paneer, masala(aloo), spinach corn. Even a one can choose of single filling too. The sambar was damn yumm. And even chutneys too. And surprise to that they even serve halwa, with every dosa. Awesome. Halwa was too good and not much sweet. That’s the best part. My husband had Ghee roast Dosa which he felt okish. My Mom Dad & Daughter had Dal Makhani with Parotta(2 pc.)which they liked. But let me tell you, if you never had South Indian Parotta it is made of Maida. And you cant finish a single piece.😅 But dal makhani was too tasty. And my brother had South Indian Mini Thaal. Wow! Beautiful presentation and so many dishes, Which he liked it. Even I too. Yeah, I tasted too. And in drinks we had, Watermelon Mojito and Pinnacolada, which is their famous. Pinnacolada was good but water melon Mojito was damn good as they made from pure watermelon which you can feel by tasting no colors or added flavour. I love food and drinks.
So, I already talked about their warm welcome ambience & food. So how could I missed such an important note- if you are planning to come at this place, be prepared to wait for 30-45 minutes. Well I waited for 40 minutes. And even my friend told me everytime she came she waited. She lived in GK, and came this place twice-thrice a month. Well! Yes, I went to this place after her recommendation. Anyhow, Wait was Worthing. I absolutely love the place, food, service....
Read moreUTTER DISREGARD FOR CUSTOMERS WITH INFANT This place is definitely not kids friendly I called up the restaurant and asked if they had high chair for infant. The lady in the beautiful attire and makeup at the reception answered in affirmative, I gave her my name and told her will be reaching in 15 minutes and requested to arrange a table with High Chair I reached in about 15 minutes and walked to the second floor, the young guy with specs told me there is waiting I told him I had made a booking already and requested a high chair for the kid. He told me there is waiting in restaurant to get the table. I informed I had requested to reserve table and high chair, he called reception and asked if there was a booking and then informed no booking was made in my name. There was a small table for 2 persons next to the window I pointed out to him that it was vacant, he said that table is reserved. He informed there are customers waiting and I will have to wait with my baby who was hungry.
I came down and confronted the woman at reception. She accepted that I called her but said that there is no provision to reserve table on phone call. I told her then why the small table was reserved and kept vacant at 2nd floor when no customer is being given that table. She said Sir jab aapne call Kiya tha waiting nai thi. So I felt that the good looking lady would have concentrated more in applying make up and on dressing up rather than using her wisdom for empathising with a customer, who informed resturant that he is coming with a hungry infant and would require table with High chair in 15 minutes. Now this restaurant has picked up sales and as such has lost value and sight of customers who helped them gain business and reputation.
Staff is not customer centric at all. All the staff is young kids who may not have enough hospitality experience. Restaurant is seems to have great reputation, but not customer centric at all.
So rather than waiting for 30 minutes with my hungry infant I chose to walk out and called nearby south Indian resturant name SUPRASAD. They (SUPRASAD) immediately agreed to cater to special request for high chair and reserve a table. When I reached staff greeted me and infant well. Also helped to seat the child on the high chair. Got special cleaned sterilized utensils and cutlery for kid. Ordered idli for my kid which was quickly freshly prepared before the kid cried...
