We did not enjoy our stay as much as we hoped to at Anahata Retreat. We stayed for 2 nights. Summarizing the key notes below - 0. The best things about this resort, is the proximity to the sea. The food offered at the restaurant is tasty as well. 1. You do not get your money's worth. We paid INR 35,000/- for a 2 day stay here. That comes out to be around USD 220/- a night. For such a sum, the kind of services and amenities present here are not up to the mark. 2. Management has standard responses for all issues, Example - Can not accommodate early check-in because we are fully booked, Naan (an Indian bread) is not available because Tandoor (clay oven) will be started in December. They do not give the feeling of going even slightly out of their way to make their customers feel welcome. On the first night of our stay, there was a scratching sound (rat or squirrel) coming from the roof of our cottage at night. When we raised this with reception, they said that they could do nothing as all rooms were booked :D 3. We had booked a bungalow with a private garden. This little cottage came with no natural light and/or cross ventilation. It was closer to a suffocating hut than closer to nature. The dimensions of this room are nothing to write home about either, was around 12 feet by 10 feet. 4. Bed linen cleanliness was not up to the mark, multiple stains, torn patches 5. Stray dogs roaming around the property, we had a stray dog using our verandah as his own for both the days, barking sounds made up the ambience. 6. Very weird complementary breakfast rules - So it's not a breakfast buffet. You can order 2 dishes per person. Here is the interesting part, they had only one item from the list of Indian breakfast menu available. One day it was parathas, next day it was Idly. So your choices are limited further. Interestingly, only the dishes from the Indian menu got this special treatment. 7. Staff does not bother to know who is staying with them and who is not. They are always present at the beach pushing you to order something, if you don't order, they tell you that the beach bed is chargeable at Rs 500. You have to tell them you are staying at Anahata, then they apologize but the experience is ruined by then. The same staff person will keep asking you "Sir, are you staying with us", you respond "Yes", they ask "Which room", you reply with the room name, then they go away only to return a few hours later 8. They do not offer the option of billing dining etc. to the room to be paid at the time of checkout. Everything had to be paid then and there. Again, this does not improve the hospitability factor. 9. The behavior of the staff at times gives a feeling that they prioritize a particular clientele over others 10. Terrible power backup. Management decided to change wiring for power backup on Sunday afternoon, when apparently all rooms were full. 11. Muddy water in taps at times. I understand this can happen when water level in tank is low, but hope this is something the resort should ensure does not happen and has a ready work around 12. Very difficult to contact helpdesk, line is always busy 13. This place does not care about building repeat customers and I would not recommend it to tourists planning a visit in the future.

The resort is lovely, and has a great view. However the condition and cleanliness of the rooms is extremely disappointing given how much these people charge. We have had a minimum of four lizards INSIDE our bathroom all the time. Since day ONE we have been alerting the staff members every single day to clean up the bathroom / pack up openings etc. No one bothered to help us out. We requested them, sweetly again and again and again and no one brothered to come in and check why the bathroom was constantly crawling with lizards and insects. On the fourth day finally we lost it and screamed at the manager at which point housekeeping took a broom and chased the lizards away into some holes INSIDE the bathroom? That didn’t make any sense to me because I figured they’ll just come back? You’re not disinfecting or cleaning up the bathroom?? No one helped us even after that, in fact even after escalating the issue of the housekeeping staff not helping us, the general manager Hitesh’s attitude to the situation was as if he didn’t care. He refused to take any action to help us, refused to talk to his housekeeping staff to solve the problem - and basically just said “I’m not at the property so not my problem boss”. Which sucks because I don’t know a single resort that claims to be 4-star or 5-star that would have 4 lizards at one time in the washroom. It was horrifying, disgusting, and the staff did not care. Imagining paying 1.6 LAKHS for a five night stay in India and the washroom is crawling with lizards and insects? It was beyond frustrating. Do not book this place. While the location is very nice - the resort is not run well anymore. Huge waste of money.

Anahata is such a beautiful resort that has somehow managed to escape the commercial spell which most places are under, that leads to sub par service and lack of privacy. But not Anahata. Greeted by a nest of trees and an amalgamation of old heritage villas, glass and wooden/hay structures. This is the place to be on a Sunday afternoon. Social distancing guidelines were in place in terms of the seating layout and the service was fast enough to not keep you looking for the waiter. Direct view and access to a clean beach. Clean and well managed restaurant, with a rather bubbly head waiter, who with utmost pride told us about how long he has worked at Anahata and that he remembers faces even after meeting and serving them just once. That is great show of the owners virtues and ability to empower his employees at Anahata. Prawn curry rice was not really up to the mark, and that's probably because my bar is set very high for the iconic prawn curry & rice dish, as I have had it at way to many places here in Goa. This one just looked great in terms of the dishware embellishments and that's it. Flavor wise, it fell flat and lacked an impact when even had without the rice. However the rawa fried prawns were definitely a lot better and was not overcooked, which is what I look for first when eating any kind of fried prawns starter. No one likes rubbery prawns. The light marination allowed for the natural prawn flavor to kick in, all while still being crisp on the outside. A win for me for sure. I'll be back real soon to see if that waiter really does have good memory.

First off, the place is super expensive for nothing. We visited during off peak season and there was no reason for a 3 star property to have 5 star rates. Let me begin with my checkin experience. I had booked partial sea view villa. When they took us to our room, it was musty, dirty and had smell of mould. After speaking and reasoning with the staff, they changed us to another room. To make note here: none of the rooms have TVs or even room phones to contact the reception/restaurant/house keeping. They only give you a whatsapp number and when we request something through whatsapp, they respond at their will and make you wait for a long time to get response to your requests. Back to the topic of rooms, they gave us an alternate room only to realize that the next day lights in the toilet werent working and the bedsheets had blood stains. To add to this misery, in the middle of the night, the wires of the room started burning and we had to call the housekeeping urgently to look into it. Finally at 10.40 in the night we had to shift to a third room. The AC in the third room wasnt working well either. But with no vhoice we had to make do with it. Fed up and angry, we spoke to the management for which they said they will have the manager speak to us in the morning.lregarding a refund/compensation. The manager never came to speak to us and didnt even care to address this issue. The staff were hardly responsive and apologetic about the ongoing issues. Fed up and regretting our decision, we checked out one day early. ||As far as the facilities are concerned, there is only 1 gym - all equipments are rusted and old and any kind of injury will require tetanus shots. Restaurant food was okayish but were highly priced. 5 meals there cost us 14k. The restaurant was dirty, sandy and due to rains extremely slushy. The ants and dogs were a menace and the staff hardly did anything to make things better. We had to make do with them. I am a dog lover. So its ok. But it was still a menace. In fact dogs would shout and baek all night when they would sleep outside your room.||Overall, Anahata is the worst place to stay in. For the price you pay, you might as well go and stay in a proper, 4 or 5 star place thats worth the money and your time. Better not to get duped by these people and find a good place to...

Dont waste your money here. We stayed here for 2 days after reading the excellent breakfast and stay reviews. Both were dissapointing. We got an expensive deal for a cottage which didnt have A/c while most of the other rooms did have it which was a mistake on my part to not to go check facilities for each room seperately on booking sites. Strangely, they dont explicitly spell that out for you that its non A/c. The beach itself is clean and good but the entire property is infested with dogs who keep barking at night and they spoil your entire beach experience. These dogs( close to 10) have made home inside the resort and some even slept on the porch on both the days we stayed there. The mosquitoes at night made things even more difficult . The worst part was the breakfast which we had high hopes for aftwr reading the reviews. They buffet spread cant be called a spread as it just had milk, coconut milk, couple of cut fruits and bread with nuts and just one item in live kitchen. One day it was eggs and the other day a badly made parantha. The restaurant facing the beach looked relaxing but the good preparation was terrible. We ordered some fish at night and asked the waiter to make it mildly spicy and chef just made the entire thing swim in red hot peri peri sauce. When we complaned, the waiter just told us that the peri peri sauce is spicy, next time we will it right for it. Fool doesn't understand that you get only one chance in this business. Also during breakfast, the staff head didnt seem welcoming and had a grumpy face. Small things which matter when you spend so much for vacation and have come to relax, you want to be taken care of. Finally, when you go scout for other places nearby you find this place is way expensive for the...
