My husband and i fell in love with goa 4 years ago, so of course we are used to the basic accomodation. We understand were not going to get 5*, just somewhere to put your head down at the end of a long day exploring beautifull Goa. But this place is something else! When we arrived at guest house 1 I felt like crying! We were showed to our room and noticed the shower was actually over the loo!!!! We asked for another room, this was not much better but at least you didn't have to sit on the loo to have a shower!!!! The widow in the bathroom was disgusting beyond the bars it was full of dirt, rubbish and ciggarette ends (i smoke and i thought it was awfull) The balcony was just as bad we never sat out there as on our first night i went to sit there and cat was not happy so see me as it was obviously it's bed, the cushions on the balcony furniture stank of cat wee. We were aparently we were lucky to get a balcony, we didn't feel lucky!!! Please dont think I'm being fussy we have stayed in some dodgy places on our travels! But you expect basic cleanliness.||For some reason they have a phobia of giving you extra loo roll and after an attack of delli belli my husband had to go on search of loo roll for me, good job he found the cleaning trolly and nicked one for me before Maria caught him!! ||And I get to Maria........... Well this woman is a bloody nightmare she will hound you to get any extra money out of you (like the ficticious drinks we were supposed to have??) She argues and argues!! For instance we managed 1 week out of our 3 in guest house 1 when we had to ask to be moved to guest house 2. One night we came back to our room and as we were sleeping we could here tap tap tap, the biggest coacroach you have ever seen!! yuk yuk yuk!!! Of course Maria said we were lying (why would we??) The sheets had questionble stains for ones that had just been changed and the mattress underneath was disgustng. The whole grounds, rooms, questionable "restaurant" which is never ever open is filthy, not just dirty it's filth, DO NOT GO TO THIS "GUEST HOUSE" after much argeing with Maria we ended up with a room at guest house 2. Yes this place was much cleaner, a typicall goa room, basic yet clean. We were happier! The pool was lovely and clean and the staff lovely and friendly (but scared to death of Maria!) The bar area was never open It!s a shame because it could be a lovely place to start and end your evening. (Apart from the rats the size of cats outside the gates either running past you or dead on the floor and being left for a few days, not good in the Goa sun)||What was a shame for us is that my parents and their 2 friends joined us in our last week and it was their first trip to Goa, They all said they loved Goa but would never stay there again, after years of us selling goa to them is wasn't the best introduction.||We still love Goa and will always holiday there, We love the place, the people, the food everyting about the place. It's just a shame we ended up in this place for 3 weeks, I'd say the worst thing about this place is the owner Maria, When we first arrived we were sucked in by her and thought she was a lovely eccentric old lady. It took a few days to realise this was not true, she hounded us for money for drinks we did not have, then carried on at my parents when we left even though i just eneded up giving her the money to get her off our back!!! She will over charge for everything like safety deposit box's and even fridges for your room!! (£2 a day??!!!!)||I'm sorry if this review sounds like a rant I just want to let anyone out there who is considering going here, please dont as it gives this beautifull place Candolim a bad name, I would reccomend the Prazeres or the Dona Alcina other lovely yet cheap places to stay. This place did not ruin our holiday but when you sleep on the beach in a shack for the night because you dont want to go back to your room there is something wrong!! But if your looking for a review on Goa because you haven't been before pleae visit this place it has changed our life and outlook on the world. It is the most beautifull, friendly, culture paked fantastic place in the world.||Candolim is great just not Ave...
Read moreIt is more a guest house than a hotel, without any basic cleaning in your rooms everyday. We had booked he room through internet. But when we reached there they were not even eager to have us over. As we had already paid through the net. We stayed there for 3 nights. The coffee tables are also not cleaned after use. It is a good place for bachelors and college going students as there is nobody to disturb you as u enjoy, laugh and shout as no supervison by owners they r not bothered. Not meant for family. Swimming pool rules are not strict people walk in without a shower, sarees, yelling and screaming and disturbing other guests. No body to ensure safety for kids at pool.||It seemed as the staff had come on holiday and not the guests, as no tea would be served before 8.30 in the morning. Breakfast only after 9.00 am. They don't even have a menu card for food. Need to ask for soap everyday. No door mats at the bathroom. Only good thing is they have a generator to back up for the frequent power failure. They don't have an intercom, need to increase house keeping staff. With so many rooms hardly 5 people. Need better managment. The owners need to travel and visit other hotels. Could make this place better by just giving good service. The hotel is good. It was our second trip to Goa. Need to have a restaurant in the hotel. There is no place to have lunch or tea, they service food near the entrance or near the gate. All the other guests can see u and check on ur food too. Or you will have to eat in your room. If u eat in the room there is no way we could order for more food as there is no intercom and no staff around.||Condolim is a great place to stay in Goa but...
Read morewhere do I start |on arrival it did not look too bad .,greeted by the woman in black who turned out to be the owner Maria.our room was definitely the best there it was overlooking the pool, nice sized room with a good bathroom .first the ceiling fan did not work but fixed the next day then the cold tap in the shower did not work fixed the day after.{six couples checked out while we were there} the pool had frogs living in it and was peagreen you could not see the bottom ,the kitchen was closed down for health reasons, but they still tried to sell you a cooked breakfast every day,Maria blesses they hotel every day with holy water to me an over the top christian .the outside bar did not open at night and the outside lights are turned off at 10 pm .the best thing about the place was the room boys they cleaned the rooms every day and we got a different arrangement of fish and animals made of towels and sheets every day ,Maria only spoke to us if we owed her money for drinks or something she hounded us for the money for the safe and the fridge from day 1 . the grounds were full of rats at night and in India they are the size of cats, my wife was ill with acute gastroenteritis we tried to get a doctor with the emergency numbers in the reception all were not working so we had to get a taxi to hospital but that's another story Goa has changed for the worse over the years and now we will never go back . only go if you like the stench the dust the filth ,bad and unsafe drivers bad food and people who try to fleece you at every turn even the chemist are at it| |Liked — the pool view |Disliked —...
