Beyond The Reef — Hotel in Goa

I had booked Beyond the Reef Hotel in March 2024, but my experience was extremely disappointing. Within five minutes of arriving, I knew this place was not where I wanted to stay.

The property failed to meet basic standards and did not match the photos shown online or shared by the owner. Upon arrival, there was no one to greet or assist us, which set the tone for the rest of the experience. The bed was filthy, and the overall cleanliness of the room was appalling. The mattress was of very poor quality, making it impossible even to sit comfortably, let alone sleep.

Contrary to the website’s claims of free parking, there was no parking space available on the property. The kitchen lacked essential appliances like a refrigerator, and the bathroom was unhygienic to the extent that even a group of guys found it unusable.

Realizing we couldn’t stay in such a substandard property, we immediately reached out to an acquaintance and arranged for alternative accommodation. Thankfully, I hadn’t made full payment for my booking, which allowed us to switch to another hotel, even though it was slightly costlier. The extra expense was well worth it compared to staying at Beyond the Reef.

The only positive aspect of this property is its location. It is situated by the roadside and close to a market for essentials, about a one-minute walk away. However, this hardly makes up for the numerous shortcomings.

We stayed here in Monsoon! Great location, interesting view of the main road and a shared balcony separated by a curtain. The refrigerator is all rusty, we put almost nothing in there. The cutlery was all dirty and covered in dried food from previous occupants, so we didn't use the kitchen. The bathroom was also a little dirty: there were some old razor blades and disposable shampoo packaging. Once a beautiful gecko came to visit us - he was cool :) The linens were clean, fresh and nice! Wi-Fi on the second floor hardly works, it is often turn off, but on the first floor the speed is great. We booked our rooms over call with Ruben..he was very helping and provided us multiple options within our budget. Unfortunately Beyond the Reef rooms were not available for those particular days, so he arranged a similar stay just opposit to it and I must say, it was great.Raviraj was super host, he helped us in everyway starting from the check in till the check out. Rooms were clean, the sitting area was beautifully decorated, food was good and service was proper. Wish to visit this place again with my friends whenever I am visiting again in Arambol.
