I visited Ostria hotel in Surat recently with the intention of booking a room directly at the property. Initially, the staff confirmed that rooms were available and we could check in. However, during the ID verification process, they suddenly denied us a stay, stating that my Aadhaar and PAN card did not mention my husband's name — only my father's.
This was extremely disappointing and frankly shocking. Both Aadhaar and PAN are valid, government-approved identification documents. There is no legal requirement in India that mandates a woman must have her husband's name on these documents to stay in a hotel. The condition they imposed was completely arbitrary and discriminatory.
The entire experience was distressing, especially because it implied that my identity was somehow incomplete or unacceptable without my husband’s name on my ID. This kind of mindset is regressive and unacceptable in today’s day and age.
I sincerely hope the hotel reviews this internal policy, trains its staff better, and ensures that no other guest faces such an unnecessary and...
Read moreOther than the room size there is nothing worth mentioning of this hotel.
The staff is rude and unwelcoming. I was with my wife and 4 Yr old kid. The manager still insists on seeing our marriage certificate since my wife still uses her maiden surname. Then he gives his perspective on how it only takes 10 days to change the surname. I do not understand who are these type of people to advice others.
Breakfast options in the package are only 3 items in veg and nothing in nonveg . This is never told till the time you order.
After placing a breakfast order u have to follow up or no one bothers of what u have ordered. The second day breakfast was not given since the person who we placed an order changed shifts and did not bother telling the other staff.
Suggestion to fellow traveller's, just book a room. Interact less with the staff and eat out. As for the management of this hotel, pls train ur staff on customer service. This is definitely the most pathetic customer experience I have had...
