I want to express my sincere compliments and gratitude to the Hyatt Regency team at Dharamshala. After an eight-night stay at this peaceful resort, I left feeling deeply impressed by the exceptionally high standards the team maintains â far exceeding what Iâve come to expect, even from five-star hotels. Their clear commitment to providing a superior guest experience is rare and truly stood out.
From the moment I arrived and was welcomed by Anshu â who kindly showed me multiple rooms to accommodate a specific request â to my final goodbyes, I felt a genuine warmth from the entire team. The front desk, housekeeping, food and beverage, and management teams all contributed to an experience that exceeded my expectations.
I would especially like to thank: ⢠Vishal â no doubt a future star and leader in the hospitality industry. ⢠Prem, Saurabh, and Haspreet â who served me most days in the restaurant. Your attentive care touched me deeply â thank you. ⢠Head chefs Pankaj and Prakash â although I didnât make any special requests, I appreciated your daily check-ins, your warm conversations, and your evident pride in delivering an excellent culinary experience. ⢠Saurabh and Anshu at the front desk â for their thoughtful support throughout my stay. ⢠Housekeeping managers Ajit and Sunil â Iâm only sorry I didnât catch the names of the team members who cleaned my room so meticulously each day.
Truthfully, there were many more team members who contributed to my wonderful experience â the entire team deserves recognition.
Several thoughtful touches stood out: hot water bottles in the evening, my mess of cables neatly organised each day by housekeeping, a beautiful card and local sweets to celebrate Holi, and other lovely, meaningful gifts. These gestures made my stay feel especially memorable.
Of course, the stay wasnât without a few small hiccups â but what impressed me most was how constructively my feedback was received. The team genuinely welcomed feedback, not as criticism but as an opportunity for growth. I felt reassured that where small improvements were needed, the staff wouldnât be punished or criticised â something I canât say about every hotel Iâve visited. This constructive and supportive approach left me even more confident in the hotelâs commitment to excellence.
Although I havenât often stayed in Hyatt properties, this experience has convinced me to seek them out more often. If the values I witnessed here are truly part of Hyattâs culture, they stand out in an industry where stated values often fail to translate into meaningful guest experiences. The Hyatt Dharamshala team are truly exceptional ambassadors of the Hyatt brand.
The hotelâs location is excellent â just a short walk from both McLeod Ganj and Dharamkot. The rooms are thoughtfully designed, with intuitive lighting and practical amenities. I appreciated the 24/7 gym, which I used regularly.
Breakfast was a highlight â an excellent, varied spread with plenty of made-to-order options, especially for vegetarians. I also enjoyed a couple of buffet dinners, which were equally satisfying. While I felt the room service offering had some room for improvement, I shared my feedback and have every confidence the team will address it swiftly.
All in all, an excellent stay â and a hotel I look forward to returning to...
Read moreI have been staying in Deodar villa during covid lockdowns since September, 2021 till September 2023. I booked a room directly at the place. It was a simple non isolated downfloor studio with kitchen, with broken old windows and big garbage storage near back wall. We agreed with the owner in presence of my Indian friend that if I will stay for 1-2 months only, the price will be 15 000 Rs all included. Even it was the worst room available at the moment, I agreed to try this suggestion for 1 month as I did not expect to stay in India for so long time. The owner said that 2 times bigger 2-room apartments he offers for Tibetan language foreign students and Tibetan families for 7-10 thousand of Rs only per a month if their long stay 1 year, at least. So, my friend agreed that if I will stay longer than 1-2 months too, the price for my 1 bed studio at laundry level will be also cheaper like for other long stayers.||But in fact, when the new wave of covid Omicron happened, I extended automatically my stay in this poor room â because there was still no way out from India at all. I was surprised then that the owner and staff asked me to pay before my departure for 2-years room rental agreement the same 15 000 Rs monthly price like estimated for short stay of 1 month only. ||I was delaying all the overcharging payments until foreign tourists will be able to travel again to Mcleod Ganj, and flights away to necessary destinations are fully available with no travel restrictions. These guys have been benefited from my wallet of stranded female foreign tourist in total the respective amount of 210 000 Rs â they thereby got a large total amount of profit during covid lockdowns with no tourists at all and low seasons. That was high profitable for them to have someone paying so long time for worse small studio downstairs with no any renovation of the walls and equipment for 2 years. ||But they behaved greedy and non grateful for those clients who was provided them totally with 210 000 Rs during no tourists years! Most of their rooms were staying empty all these years as no demand at all â but they pressured the rest of long staying clients to pay more and more, including me, a stranded foreigner who was just long time awaiting when it will be possible to travel the same free like before covid pandemic lockdowns worldwide! ||Of course, Indian taxi drivers and some rental business and sellers are famous for use of wild style scam, tourist abuse and overpricing schemes. Especially, if they know that the tourist can not get out easy from the place due to any travel limitations. ||So, during global economic crisis I would recommend to any other foreign tourists to avoid unfriendly and greedy room suppliers, definitely. Otherwise, customers will be only loosing the money for a bad quality of service. In addition, when the agreed amount paid in full, customers might be listening a crazy chutzpah about how room seller is unsatisfied to get benefited for 2 lakhs only during low demand times - because he expected to get for the old dirty downstairs room with not repaired windows and 1 bed sheet change per a month an incredible price and balance debts of 1 million dollars to be paid, at least. I got troubled with that...
