My experience at this place was unfortunately extremely negative, and I cannot recommend it to anyone. Especially considering the price they charge, there are far better options in Mysore that offer basic cleanliness, respect, and privacy.
First of all, the hygiene was unacceptable. The place was dirty and not sanitized at all: they cleaned the floor without detergent, using a dirty mop, and often walked barefoot leaving their dirty footprints everywhere. The wardrobe inside the room was completely unusable – filthy, smelly, and impossible to use for storing clothes.
The main reason I booked this property was because their site clearly stated that check-in was available 24 hours a day. After traveling for 25 hours to reach Mysore, I finally arrived exhausted at 4 in the morning. However, once there, I was told that I could not check in at that hour – they only allowed me to leave my bags. This was very disappointing and misleading, since the promise of 24-hour check-in was the main reason I booked this place.
The staff was also a huge problem. They do not speak English, and instead of trying to communicate kindly, they got easily irritated and expected me to understand their language. Several times they repeated the same words in their own tongue, louder and louder, as if it were my fault I could not understand. This created a very unpleasant and stressful atmosphere throughout the stay.
The room we were given was at the top floor, but to reach it we had to walk past an awkward and inappropriate situation: one of the hostel boys was literally sleeping on the staircase, without any curtain or privacy. Every time we went up or down, we had to pass right next to him, in an area that smelled bad and was very unhygienic. I honestly felt sorry for him, but as paying guests this was extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional.
On top of that, the behavior I witnessed was shocking and ruined the experience further. One evening, while I was watching the sunset with my wife, trying to relax, the same boy started washing himself in a small fountain right in front of us, spitting and coughing phlegm on the ground while brushing his teeth. It was disgusting and made the moment very unpleasant.
He was also extremely intrusive. After such a long journey, I desperately needed rest, but instead I was disturbed several times. The first night, around 10:30 pm, he knocked insistently on my door to call me for something, completely ruining the little sleep I was getting. The next morning, around 7 am, he did the same again. This constant interruption was exhausting and very disrespectful, especially since I had paid for a private room where I expected peace and rest.
Even the smaller details that should have been functional were in terrible condition. The clothesline was so old and broken that it actually tore my clothes, and there was only one clothespin available – completely insufficient. When I tried to step out on the terrace to enjoy a bit of fresh air or look at the sky in the morning, I was immediately approached and forced into conversation, without any personal space or quiet.
All these situations together made the stay extremely uncomfortable. My wife and I constantly felt disturbed, surrounded by dirt, noise, and intrusion. I truly feel compassion for the people working there, but as a paying guest this is absolutely unacceptable.
For the price they ask, this place is definitely not worth it. I could list even more issues we faced, but what I have already described is enough to say that this was one of the worst travel experiences I have had.
My final judgment is 1 star. This place is absurd, disappointing, and I strongly advise...
Read moreBeen on vacation in India for few months now, and after being stayed across several properties and apartments around the country, we planned to visit Mysore and happened to come across this Bricknest Homes through internet. We assumed this to be apartment type stay based on the pictures from Internet . When called and enquired, it seems they have 3 different properties across Mysore . The one on the Google maps with pictures has been sold out and they offered a 2 bedroom homestay which looked OK on photos .
After checked in while the house looked similar to what we saw on pictures but was very dated . It was kind of a mixed feeling for us . While few families may like the property since it might be similar to their home , as travellers, we expect the property to be decently new with few extra comforts available than our house. The price was not cheap either . At this price, we have stayed at brand new 2 bedroom apartments with all amenities at Bangalore, Chennai , Trivandrum etc .The price was too expensive for the property. It didn't have air conditioning at any of the rooms, which we felt is a must for the hot Mysore weather. There was no adequate lighting, and fans were too old and noisy . The beds were OK and comfortable. The cupboards and cabinets were very old and were not ideal to keep stuff. Our sleep was disturbed by too many mosquitoes. They had mosquito repellent. But that's was of no use . Our kid didn't sleep well at all due to lack of AC and mosquitoes and had allergic reactions to mosquito bites . Being a homestay we expected it to have a decent speed wifi internet but unfortunately they only had a Hotspot router which provides internet through a sim card which was extremely slow and will often disconnect. We didn't receive any sort of service as well. Once we made the payment upon checkin , I was hardly contacted for any service or assistance. Their staff would ring the bell at 10.30 at night and 6AM in the morning asking us the switch on the motor for water tank which was extremely annoying. He would keep knocking on the door and ringing the bell for 10 to 15 minutes if we were sleeping and not responding. It's not professional behavior at all . They could have got that switch outside . Overall it was not a comfortable stay, and the property is too dated, and no new amenities or modifications will have any positive impressions from the guest. The only positive is the location which is very close to mall, palace , zoo, shops etc . But that advantage is nullified by the price, which was too high for the property to...
Read moregot to say I was terribly disappointed with the experience. The whole checkout experience ruined my day and mood. I had requested for a late checkout as we had to visit a temple and we anticipated a delay due to a Sunday peak rush. But during and after the return the caretaker (Manu) kept on cribbing and blaming us for the delay. I accept we got late but the way we were treated and shooed out of the room was embracing. Top of it penalty of 500₹. Can understand being in shoes of waiting guest but coming in to clean the room when we are still packing felt very unprofessional. The single room is in 3rd floor and the care taker didn’t even bother to ask if we need help with moving our luggage downstairs ( no there is no lift facility ). Had to force our 5yr old kid to even carry items back down to the car.
I didn’t complain or raise concern about the room being in 3rd floor and not having AC (it had a noisy cooler but not AC ) - both of which were not told during time of booking. But this is the price we paid for choosing this property whilst travelling with a 5yr old.
People in the past who opted for other rooms might have had good experience but not me and never gonna recommend this to anyone in my...
