This review is based on my first visit to Vivanta, Mangalore after the name changed from its earlier one of Manjuran. I had a Workshop to attend and was extremely happy to see the changes that have taken place.

Upon entering the Lobby, my eyes were brought to the attention of the beautiful and colorful upholstered chairs and sofas. You may feel like curling up with a book and sipping on a cup of coffee when you see it.

The Workshop was conducted in the Banquet Hall located on the 1st Floor. It was extremely spacious and bright. Round tables had been arranged and in spite of all the tables being occupied, one did not feel like it was extremely crowded. Upon reaching the 1st floor, you will find two banquet halls - one to the left hand side near the restrooms and the bigger one to your right hand side.

There was a Coffee Break mid morning and the Tea/Coffee and cookies were served in the common area. The cookies were really yummy and complemented the Coffee too.

The lunch was also served in the same area with the Soup, Starters and Main Course on one counter and the Dessert on another one. Here is a list of the items: Roasted Tomato Soup, Curd Rice, Coleslaw, Channa Chaat, Papad, Methi Muttar Paneer Malai, Bindi Do Pyaza, Vegetable Pulao, Chicken Curry, Roti and Naan. For Dessert, there was Carrot Halwa, Mango Pastry and Butterscotch Ice Cream. The food was delicious and my favorite item was the Methi Muttar Paneer Malai which was so rich and flavorful.

Post lunch, we had another session and around 3:30 p.m. we had another Tea/Coffee Break with the delicious cookies!

One of the things I must highlight are the spotless restrooms! First of all, there is so much light that you will feel as if the spotlight is on you! Once you open the door, you can find a huge mirror from top to bottom on the right hand side wall and a small counter opposite to that in case you want to keep your bag. The counter space near the sink is in black marble with gold glitter and it also matches the tissue dispenser kept near the soap dispenser which looked quite classy! The oval mirrors will make you feel as if you are sitting in a make up room of a celebrity. The pure white tiles will make you feel as if they are brand new. Another wall mirror is located next to the counter so you can check yourself out before heading to your destination.

As I was leaving, I got a glimpse of the restaurant where the buffet is served to the guests.

Hope to visit again soon to try out the devouring items in the Buffet as well...

I had such an amazing experience at the newly renovated Vivanta Mangalore - Old port road. It was a solo visit, normally all sophisticated hotels/resorts expect their guest to arrive and leave exactly at their designated check in and check out times, which normally is post 2 pm and before 12 pm, this is not actually fair cause the guest won't be able to exactly follow this all the time or is always put under pressure, blamed and demeaned for not doing so that is where Vivanta Mangaluru surprised me - they don't shun or question guests for arriving early or checking out a bit late, they would try their best to accommodate or else they would compensate by providing refreshments, moreover the concierge staff are really kind , compassionate, cordial and understanding. The lobby is huge and airy with pleasant music always playing which gives a calming effect while you wait. The security staff is also very friendly, there is ample underground parking space, the locality is also silent and is located within walkable distance from the Mangaluru Central Railway station (MAQ).The rooms and washrooms are spacious and clean decked with all the necessary amenities, housekeeping is active round the clock and requests are answered promptly. The restaurant staff is also very cordial, the food was also really tasty, you should try their Sunday brunch and dishes like tuna and pomodoro pasta, Chicken and mutton dum biriyani, club sandwich, burgers etc, their menu has a wide variety of cuisines both local and international. The pool area also had a good positive vibe, they have a convenience store as well, their bar and few other additions are under construction however that doesn't bother your stay. I saw a lot of families with elderly people and kids staying and enjoying their stay which was a perfect reassurance that the staff is excellent in managing people of all age groups, last but not the least my room had west facing windows from which I could see the Rivers and the Ocean and beautiful sunsets, do ask them for a room with the sunset view. Ending my review with a kudos to the staff for their customer-centric professionalism rooted in humanity. I did not have one dull moment during my stay and I'm sure to return and will definitely recommend this property to anyone visiting Mangaluru or Kasargod. Thank you...

Hospitality makes up for Age

I was quite nervous choosing this hotel after reading all the reviews and was dreading the REnovation related issues we might run into. The first impression was not great when we entered. But have to admit that everything from there on was wonderful, especially thanks to the wonderful staff (everyone from the Front office to the General Manager) who made sure our stay was a pleasurable one despite the construction work and remodeling that was happening around us

LOCATION: Very good location at the heart of the city.

DINE + DRINK: The High Tide bar is a wonderful place to unwind in the evening with your favourite drink. A pub like atmosphere with a good selection of Wine, Beer and Liquor. The Port cafe is good for Breakfast as well as a late afternoon Coffee and snack

ROOM: We stayed in 410, Which was a SUITE room, so this review is based on that; VIEW: Sweet view of the Heritage building and cityscape ; SIZE: Very spacious room; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part to put me to sleep; BATHROOM: Stand in shower; TOILETRIES: Lovely Spa quality cosmetics from BIOTIQUE brand.

FACILITIES: A dingy looking Gym (with no windows and at the basement!). But it came with a good range of weights, workout stations, and Cardio machines(though a bit dated). They also have a decent Swimming pool.

SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all my needs with a smile and made us feel pampered and well taken care of. Special Shout out to SATHYA at the front desk, and the Bartender at High Tide

HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free high speed Wi-Fi that works well all over the property. Big Plasma TV screen dishing out dozens of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies and a wide variety of entertainment in multiple languages

COVID UPDATE: THe property has done an excellent job of ensuring safety , social distancing and hygiene to minimise the risk as much as possible. Especially the Common areas and Restaurant had good implementation of the...

**Must-Try Dishes:** 1. **Egg Ghee Roast and Chicken Ghee Roast:** - These dishes are standout items on the menu. Both the egg and chicken versions are rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked with a generous amount of ghee, making them indulgent and satisfying. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the restaurant. 2. **Rawa & Ghee Roast Fish Pamphlet:** - This dish is another highlight. The fish is coated in a crispy rawa (semolina) crust and cooked with ghee, giving it a delightful texture and rich flavor. It's definitely worth trying if you enjoy seafood. **Other Dishes:** 1. **Neer Dosa:** - The neer dosa is acceptable but not exceptional. It's a good accompaniment to the ghee roasts but may not stand out on its own. 2. **Ghee Rice:** - The ghee rice is not particularly recommended. It lacks the richness and flavor that you might expect, especially compared to the other ghee-based dishes on the menu. **Drinks:** - **Taza Lime:** - Best to avoid this drink. The bottled Taza Lime was not in good condition, indicating possible issues with storage or freshness. **Ambience:** - The ambience of Shetty Lunch Home is just okay. However, a notable feature is the live Kannada music, which adds a pleasant and cultural touch to the dining experience. - One downside is that the bar and AC restaurant share the same space, which might not be ideal for families due to the potential smell and overall atmosphere. **Parking:** - Convenient roadside parking is available, making it easier for visitors to access the restaurant without worrying about finding a parking spot. **Summary:** Shetty Lunch Home offers some exceptional dishes, particularly the ghee roasts and rawa fish, making it worth a visit for these items alone. While the ambience is average and the bar setting might not suit all diners, the live music provides a nice cultural experience. Some dishes and drinks may be hit or miss, so it's best to stick to the highly recommended items. Parking availability is a plus for this establishment.
