Hotel Arcadia — Hotel in Kerala

I would like to share a horrible experience i had yesterday with my friends when we been to the skybar in arcadia kottayam. I came kerala for a holiday from Uk and i took my friends along with me to give them a treat in the skybar. As arcadia is famous and been a quite while in this business and assuming that the service will be be top notch there we decided to go to this place to have food and drink. But mine and my friends experience from this place was quite the opposite from the moment we entered into the skybar. The behavior of the guy who came to take the order was quite rude to us. He was a tall guy and seems like he was in the influence of the alchohol. I enquired him about the round table on the top floor of the sky bar and he was very hesitant to answer any queries and very rude to me. After the drink and food we asked for the bill and he came up with a bill of 8471rupees and we all were numbs-trucked as we were sure we didnt eat or drink that expensive . So we double checked the bill and find out huge discrepancies in the bill. We ordered only one mocktail and he put 3 mocktails instead. We ordered 2 beer and he charged the price of 4. We drink only 4 mojito( which you can find it is not a real mojito cocktail who had a real cocktail before) he charged us 8 . So we went to this tall guy to speak about the bill and he was blabbering and couldnt give us a good explanantion why he charged us like this. He had to amend the bill to 5683 at the end. It was such a bad experience so if anyone goes to this place please cross check the bill before paying it to ensure that you are not overpaying. I am pretty sure it was not a mistake and it the bartender who was trying to cheat us thinking that we all are boozed. No offence to the hotel but if you employ this kind of employees it will surely dampen the reputation of your hotel. Please also educate your employees to put a smile on their face while welcoming the guests as they pay a chunk of money to sit on this skybar. I hope the management will look into this as this is a threestar rated hotel. I will never encourage any of my friends or family coming to india to choose this hotel. Very arrogant behavior from the Manager Mr Augustine Mathew (Santosh ).will never visit this restaurant again or will recommend it to someone 👎we were a 8 member group after wedding purchase from the opposite textiles. I went and blocked 8 seats as soon as the others were billing there in the garment shop opp to the hotel since we need 8 seats . I myself took sometime to cross the road since there was heavy traffic. After waiting in the hotel for 10 mts. This man came and told i should wait outside if the others are yet to come because other customers are waiting. I said my group will come just now. I turned around and could find several seats including family seats of 6 laying empty.( you cud check the cctv inside the restaurant from 1 30 to 2 pm on 21 jan of cellar restaurant to verify this and whether there were any group standing outside without getting seats since i had blocked this 8 seats for us)i made sure my group is approaching and orderd a soup which others did nt need. When the manager approached me to take the order for the soup i said" they will be here now since its traffic they are trying to cross. They are just on the opposite side. If you need someone to occupy the seat i shall change to other seats".( pack of six seats and several pack of two seats were still empty, can verify if need)For this the man s reply was " i know how much traffic this road is having and its not at all an issue to cross here " it was lound arrogant and the other people were staring at me.(can understand its all buisiness and you can request a customer to shift the seat.. But can be polite. Not like we have just come for having free food)i was totaly taken aback. I had been to almost all restaurants with all type of star ratings in kottayam. Never had i faced such an issue and an arrogant behavior from a staff. Since me myself was the one heading the groom's side was the one who recommended the restaurant to the bride s party i remained calm and did nt respond in front of them.But it was a very insulting behavior.This is the first time. Dear readers, After a very long time I got an opportunity to visit my favourite restaurant for Kerala meals once again. This time it was with my dad. He is elderly and has very short steps and very careful in walking as a precaution to not fall down and hurt himself, even with me by his side he does that cause he knows that I will not be there every day for him and he respects my personal life too. Back to the review part. From the time we drove in to the time we left after lunch the treatment they gave us was extraordinary. The lady in the front desk to the person who led us downstairs know what they are doing and what they need to do in an hospitality industry. When we entered the restaurant downstairs the understanding of our needs was met with utmost care and professionalism. Sanoj the manager took proper care on giving us the best possible attention. He and his team was amazing. The food we ordered was fish curry meals As usual the quality was excellent ever since I started liking that restaurant almost close to 23 years back. Fish curry - superb Mango (kadumanga) pickle - excellent Chammanthipodi - great Rice perfectly boiled not overcooked or under cooked Thoran was really good Sambar, pulisherry and chemmeen thengaarchu curry was just amazing Payasam even though tiny bit was really tasty please increase the quantity a little bit Nemmeen fish fry was very tasty but could have been bit more juicy - kind of dry Items that I missed was sambharam or pachamoru and the thengarachu fish curry from the olden times.
