Broke, hungry, roaming around Kottayam town,we found this gem. After shopping and gaming with friends we soon realized....we're flat broke!!Only had a few hundred rupees in our torn wallets. We were looking for a place where we could fill our tummy up with a small budget.Roaming all round the town we couldn't find nowhere which wasn't filled with people, let alone be affordable!Without us realizing,we found ourselves at the doorstep of mahe cafe.Driven by hunger we decided to go for it no matter what.We where shocked to find this huge crowd and were even shocked to find the menu and pricing.Chicken biryani under 100 rupee?in this shabby old place? As long as we were concerned we didn't care about the crowd. There was not even a single chair left there, even so(unwillingly),we convinced our tired asses to stand n' eat(with all walking around the town). But that wasn't even a problem when we saw our plates being brought by the staff! This quantity!!We ate to our hearts content. All that story aside, this place really offers some good food.Really busy during lunch time.Yeah, the place is not that pleasant but it's all worth it👍🏽.So,if you come across with your dumb ass being broke,be sure to make a visit(Even if you got money please do go).Highly recommended👌🏽(Review from a...
Read moreMahe Café is an excellent choice for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Kozhikodan flavors at an affordable price. The highlight of their menu is the Kozhikodan Dum Biryani, priced at just ₹100, which is served with both a large and a small piece of chicken. Each plate is complemented by a refreshing glass of sulaimani, making it a complete and satisfying meal.
In addition to biryani, the café offers a wide variety of traditional Kozhikodan snacks, all prepared with great taste and served at budget-friendly rates. This makes it a must-visit destination for those who want to explore local delicacies without overspending.
The ambiance is simple and functional, with only chairs and no tables, and the place is usually quite busy and lively. While it may not provide a fine-dining experience, the vibrant atmosphere reflects its popularity and adds to its charm.
Overall: Mahe Café delivers delicious food, authentic flavors, and unbeatable value, making it a highly recommended spot for biryani and snack lovers alike.

Read moreI visited Mahe Cafe after seeing a lot of positive reviews on Swiggy and Zomato, especially on World Biryani Day. However, my experience was disappointing. The food was just below average—not bad, but definitely not as good as the reviews suggested.
The shop itself is very small, and the food preparation area did not seem hygienic. It’s located in an open car parking ground, which adds to the sense of untidiness. This was a letdown, especially since hygiene is a basic expectation for food outlets.
One surprising and unpleasant experience was the price difference between cash and Google Pay payments. For the same product, they charged an extra “tax” amount if paying through Google Pay. This is something I’ve never encountered at other shops, and it felt unfair and unprofessional.
Overall, my expectations were high due to the online hype, but the experience fell short in terms of both food quality and overall management. There’s definitely room for...
