Being one of the oldest hotels in Thiruvalla, I had high hopes when I visited this place yesterday after years. Let’s just say that it did do well in most areas but requires improvement in a few. First off, they provide additional parking behind the hotel and I think it’s great. However, these areas need some serious clean up. If you’re parking behind the hotel, you can enter from the rear entrance with access to an elevator that takes you up to the restaurant. I’d just warn you of the unbearable stench coming from the kitchen and surrounding areas if you chose to take this route. It’d probably be best if you avoided this route and walked up to the main entrance. I wonder why the hotel has neglected maintaining proper hygiene at their facility. When we got up to the restaurant, I was pleasantly surprised to see their refreshed interiors. The food was decent but nothing to rave about. The chilly chicken was too sweet but the garlic chicken was good. We also ordered mixed fried rice which tasted pretty good. For dessert, we ordered blueberry cheesecake and I think it’s one of the best I’ve had in a while. Since we were visiting with children, we had asked for suitable seating areas. They do not provide high seats for toddlers. However, they provided a nice baby crib. What left me wondering is the lack of basic dining and sanitation facilities for children. We visited as a group of 7 with two little babies and a toddler who needed to be fed and changed as well. Since there are no designated feeding rooms for babies, we needed to feed our babies at the dining table and I must say that our table ended up being a spectacle for ogling onlookers. They also do not have baby changing stations - I wonder if the management is ignorant of these requirements or if it’s blatant neglect. Elite is considered to be one of the oldest ‘upscale’ hotels in Thiruvalla and it surprises me that they’ve never heard of ‘baby changing stations’. It doesn’t take much to install one and if they do, they’d surely see more footfall from families with kids. They’re getting 2 stars today for their blueberry cheesecake, a star for the crib, and finally a star for the security guard at the entrance who was kind enough to chaperone my daughter to the car with his umbrella since it was raining. I’m taking away a star due to the lack of certain facilities that I’ve mentioned above. Would I go here again? Yes, I would. However, I’d expect to see some improvements on...
Read moreThis hotel has exceed my expectations!! I'm a westerner and was worried about the property. I've been here one week and it has been such a good experience...I came here to sort out my late father's estate so I'm not here on vacation but staying here has made the experience of dealing with Indian bureaucracy much easier to tolerate.
I booked through Expedia and received complementary breakfast. Staff at the restaurant were friendly, quick, and the food was solid. I'm limited on my what I can eat so the Idaly was my staple my entire. I don't care what anyone thinks, Idaly is breakfast, lunch, and dinner meal.
** The room was clean, nicely laid out, mini-fridge, Ice Cold AC... The shower was HOT and had enough pressure to peel paint... Something I enjoy.
** Visited the spa... Yes.. There is a nice Ayurvedic spa on the 7th floor... Clean, great service, fell asleep twice on the table... Had an awful flight experience on Kuwait so my whole body was in pain... They got the knots out...
I've been sending pictures to my family back home so they can see how awesome it has been... The only thing that's tough is the location... Main road is crazy busy and as someone that likes to explore every city I'm in... Crossing the road was like a game of Frogger... This isn't the fault of the property and I'm writing this for anyone that is like me... Be careful when crossing or walking on the street.
The weirdest thing is the WiFi... Shows 1MB speed but I've been able to watch 1080p videos on YouTube without any issue. ...if you want better wifi bring your own hotspot....
Went up to the roof top restaurant, Uptown Shack, was amazing!! Totally floored at the experience... Cool breeze, great vibe, great service, and good food. Look for Jubin, solid guy and very friendly.... The only thing missing is rooftop concerts and my understanding is that's something they are going to start exploring in the year... I think a nice cover band or a sitar player under the stars would be so badass for this location....
If you are concerned about language barrier, EVERYONE, speaks...
Read moreReview of KGA Elite Restaurant:
I recently ordered a meal from KGA Elite Restaurant, and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. The order consisted of paneer tikka masala, one Kerala parotta, and chapatis. Let me break down my observations:
Quantity and Presentation: One of the most disappointing aspects of the meal was the quantity. I was highly dissatisfied with the portion size provided, especially considering the price I paid. The container for the curry was not even filled to a satisfactory level, leaving me feeling shortchanged. Additionally, the curry had a noticeable layer of oil, which further affected the overall appeal of the dish.
Taste and Quality: While the quality of the products served was generally good, I couldn't overlook the issues with quantity and presentation. The paneer tikka masala had a pleasant taste, but it was hard to fully enjoy it due to the insufficient amount of curry and the excessive oil. The chapatis, although not terrible, were not worth the amount charged.
Kerala Parotta: The saving grace of the meal was the Kerala parotta, which I found to be of good quality and enjoyable. However, I must note that the price of 30rs per parotta seemed a bit steep.
Overall Experience: Regrettably, I cannot say that the dinner from KGA Elite Restaurant was great. Given the high reputation and positive feedback I had heard about this establishment, I expected a better experience. The lack of attention to portion size and presentation, along with the pricing concerns, left me feeling dissatisfied.
Recommendation: Considering the issues I encountered, I would suggest that KGA Elite Restaurant addresses the concerns with portion sizes and oil content in their curries. Moreover, reevaluating the pricing of certain items, such as the chapatis and parottas, would be beneficial to enhance customer satisfaction.
In conclusion, while the quality of the food served was generally good, the overall experience at KGA Elite Restaurant fell short of expectations. I hope that the management takes this feedback constructively to improve their offerings and deliver a more enjoyable dining experience...
