Super Collection O Hotel Dona Castle — Hotel in Kerala

Hotel Dona Castle - the name kind of gives you the impression of a grand hotel situated in the middle of a posh area, with great fooding options, amazing staff. But when we arrived at the area at almost 10 o clock in the night, we immediately realised that reality was drastically different. The area was so dark that for a few minutes we could not even locate the hotel. When we did, we found a couple of staff at the reception who appeared surpised to see us even though we had an advance booking with OYO. Even then, common hotel etiquette in this day and age is, that the customer is allowed to get down and enter the hotel, check into the rooms, while the checkin process continues in parallel. We probably deserved this even more so since we had our infant son and a mother who is a senior citizen. But the staff made us wait for almost 20 minutes before we could check in.

Nevertheless, tired as we were, we settled down into the rooms quickly and prepared to sleep after some quick food we ordered from nearby shops (as this place has a restaurant which takes orders only till evening). Sometime in the night, we were almost shaken with loud sounds coming in from the terrace. After going through that night, we complained to the staff about this the next morning, but no steps were taken about this. When we offered to check out a day in advance, they said no refund could be issued, so we had to lose a bit of money before moving to another hotel in Kollam.

But then, coming to the good parts. Food was awesome. And even though the staff seemed to lack a lot in terms of efficiency, in general they were a set of jovial and polite folks, who could do better if trained a little better. Also, my word of caution to everyone who is considering this hotel, if you have family you may want to reconsider staying here, as most of the folk who come over are either bachelors or sports teams who are visiting the city for a brief period, and therefore party throughout the night in the adjoining rooms. If you are a bachelor of course, nothing to worry about and you can probably have a good stay, if you choose to ignore a few...

I booked a room for a day just 10am to 4pm I booked in booking.com it’s mentioned the price is 1490 and I booked the room before also I stayed 3,4 times in this hotel allmost the same times that time also I face some issueses. I didn’t write anything regarding that I just leave it that sometimes it will happend but everytime the same insident that’s verry terrible. When I went to reception for check in the person I don’t know the name he talk to me like a culprit I don’t know why and he talk to me rudely “if u want check in now u need to pay 500 extra” I’m also working the same industry I can pay what ever he want but need to say politely and I’m not staying here 24 hour I just came to fresh up and I want to go railway station. In this industry this behavior is not good and I paid the same what he ask and I ask bill he didn’t give he told me he can’t give bill for that extra 500 bill he can give only that normal bill actually I didn’t understand why he can’t that what ever I leave it. I paid 2000 for 6 hour and I went inside the room I switch on the tv there is only one channel is working the local channel rest all can’t c need to recharge for rest all. Im verry sorry to say this I spend this much and it’s not worth I feel verry terrible and it’s my last time in this...

Kollam, being a tourist place plenty of options are concentrated towards house boats, boat travel. But, for the city stay I suggest Hotel Dona Castle. This travel being a family one, I made quite a bit of search to get a good accommodation, and this one didn't go wrong. Located in the Kottamukku junction, which is away from the busy city center is a nice place to stay. Though we had booked deluxe room, our room got upgraded to super-deluxe one and the amenities are quite nice. Very spacious rooms with dining table and sofa sets. The staff are very professional, the restaurant offers quite a decent and tasty food. In house dining is provided. Complimentary breakfast was provided with a single dish, to choose from ale-carte menu; that's fine still. Located about 2 to 2.5 km from Kollam beach and is accessible by auto-rickshaws near by.
