Rarely do I give anything less than 3 stars for a place, but my poor experience here really means I am being really generous when I give this place two stars.
To start with, this place is run as a place that derives most of its profits from booze (beer and wine). This is evident in everything around here. We could hear the noise made by the tipplers from the beer parlour operated in the floor below, even late into the night. To our shock, the guys in the room right in front of us were having a booze party in their room - the only respite being that they were relatively quiet.
To our shock, we could see a bottle of beer in the main restaurant (which is not part of the bar) when we walked in there. We soon realised that the beer was being consumed by the main guy in the reception. So, multiple counts of violations right there - drinking on the job, serving alcohol in restaurant.
I had booked four rooms here for my family. Since it was the onset of monsoon, we thought non-AC rooms would be sufficient. However, the rooms were poorly designed and hence was so hot that most of us across the 4 rooms could sleep very little, overnight. What we suspect, looking at the ongoing renovation work, was that they wanted to make money out of those rooms while the AC was being refitted.
In addition, the rooms were in dilapidated shape - perhaps they were due for renovation.
The only saving grace has been that the rooms were relatively cheap, in fact the cheapest available at that point in Kollam. In hindsight, I now know why.
My request to the management - please stop being so short sighted by giving these rooms out. Also, the place is not at all a family place. If you are keeping it that way, please take it off online portals, or people like me will checkin, find faults and write nasty reviews which may not be...
Read moreThis is to mention a very bad situation that I faced in the bar of this hotel. One of the waiters who was serving me and my friend wasn't happy with the tip given and came and returned the tip and while we leaving he grumbled something which lead to a scuffle and thankfully didn't ended up in blows as we were sober enough. Three guys of the staff started harrasing us and abusing us and I decided to give a complaint in the front office to no avail. I was a frequent visitor to this bar and had built a good rapport with some of the bar men behind the counter, but nobody supported me and pushed us out of the bar. I would like to make note this was just due to us leaving a low tip. I am very sorrily letting the management know that I will never ever be returning to this hotel and bar and would recommend all my friends reading as well as to make note of this issue and be careful when visiting bars. The bar which I mentioned was the local bar and not the executive bar which I had to visit due to the other being crowded.
I am pleased with your reply and appreciate that you are looking forward that such incidents are dealt with. Changed my...
Read moreI reached Zodiac Regency on the Indian Republic Day around 1600 hours. The parking lot was spacious and clean. The front office was dimly lit. It had sprawling sofas and new-looking furniture. The front office staff was courteous. He promptly took us to show the rooms and discussed the facilities in great detail. He even spoke to the auto rickshaw man who was getting impatient while we saw the property. The existence of all amenities (wine and beer bar, restaurant, business centre, etc.) in the hotel makes it a perfect place for a quick getaway. For five star rating: Better lighting in front office area, Provide more man-power in front-office, one to stay ya front office and another to show the room avoid using the hotel guard as a concierge/bell-boy (to carry...
