Visited this hotel for the first time in the year 1991 when my uncle took here for a lunch. It was my first experience to big hotel like Carlton in those days now a days lot of hotels have come up. Restaurant was mighty with lot of dishes to eat. Not sure we had buffet or ordered dishes. They were playing tunes of famous movies. We requested to play few tunes which they immediately played. After this occasion we visited this hotel on few occasions for food but didn't get chance to stay here. If you need boating customized boat will be arranged by this hotel which you will feel as if you are boating in Kashmir's Dal Lake. Kodaikanal- being the favorite Destination of most of the south, been there manier times and stated at various different properties. But this time we stayed at The Carlton... my first ever stay at dis gem of Kodaikanal as discribed. What an awesome property. A very Nicely maintained n awesomely designed property with all the amenities n services , that a person can need in a leisure vacation. Nicely done lobby with a view of garden/lawn, a lovely sitting arrangement in garden/lawn with the lovely lake view, that gives you amazing feel of a hot coffee in d cold atmosphere... attached to the lobby is a bar area "The end to the Road".

The hotel has 3 different garden/lawn area on different levels which are full of greens, purely picturesque... I think the hotel is engineered so nicely tat almost every room has a lovely view of Lake or lawn...

We went on a group family holiday. We were almost 80-100 people. Had a bulk booking in The Carlton. The arrangements were done before we reached, so we got the rooms as soon we entered the hotel. we had a lake view room n I must say rooms are very well maintained n very cosy with the balcony with a lovely coffee table sitting for two.... I'm still in awe of that amazing sunrise n sunset views... Nice n clean bathrooms with attached bathtub n all needed accessories... Bathtub n d hott shower added wings to the romance in that cold weather, which was a boon to our bonding time...

They provided a separate banquet hall to us for our family for our BF, lunch n dinner program on day 1. On day 2 the arrangement for the breakfast n luch were made in a small garden area, which was simply amazing... The manager n other staffs were very courteous, always ready to help... The best highlight of the hotel is cleanliness n maintenance of lawns n every other area... They had a nicely done club house with lots of options for activities like indoor n outdoor games... They had a lovely spa with good masseurs... Each n everybody enjoyed cycling around the lake (which is main attraction in kodai) whenever they wanted as hotel provides cycles to you. The Carlton has its own boating jetty n boats, so it's easy as well as comfortable for the guest stats at The Carlton.

Overall the trip was so memorable with sweet n fond memories and The Carlton was the icing on the cake. Coz it added happiness to our pictures with its scenic beauty.

From where do I start!! Should I start by thanking the management of Carlton for having & maintaining such a lovely property and a wonderful team or should I start with the staffs of Carlton who are doing a fantabulous Job in taking care of their guests, as a team or should I start with two of the best people I ever met in service industry I.e, Mr TR Shankar(Restaurant Manager) and Mr Manikandan (Chef).... Well, I think, I should start with my own cumulative experience till date in Kodai, all these years and having done multiple trips!! To be honest, eventhough I have seen Carlton.. I never stayed there even once before.. Since it was an old Iconic property, I perceived that it won't be good, my bad. Even this trip we initially stayed in another property of a good brand, similarly priced, but in two days due to poor food and service we decided to vacate the place and that's when my wife asked me to check with Carlton, turned out to be the best decision.

From check-in till check-out we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and my sincere gratitude to the whole team of Carlton. While all of them were super good, I think I should point out two people who were exceptional i.e.,

Mr T.r Shankar - why? Eventhough he was the head of the restaurant with so many years of rich experience... He led the team by example, I mean, I never saw him sitting in one place or distracted or idle!! He was running that extra mile with his team with full Josh and was providing exceptional service to the quests.., what a person, really superb.

Mr Manikandan (Chef) - We loved the food and enjoyed every single day of the stay, awesome it was. In fact, myself and my wife were discussing to an extent that we will go to the hotel where Manikandan is the Chef, in case if he changes from Carlton to another brand. Also, he was so nice and kind to us and took care us so very well. Best service and food experience from the chef himself!! Loved his care and attitude, so humble he is and some of the dishes I had was the best ever.

For people who are looking out for a good hotel in Kodaikanal - I genuinely recommend Carlton for their unmatchable location, food and above all their exceptional service. So, if you can afford, please don't look any further and book your stay in Carlton. I am sure that you will thank me later for my recommendation ☺️
