Charu Guest House in Leh (Upper Tukcha Road Malpak) is perhaps the most affordable best property in Leh. Read on…
It's a value for money, neat & clean home stay with nice mountain view and in literally 5 minutes walking distance from the busy Main Market area where you'll find all the shops & restaurants. Go for 2nd & 3rd floor Front Rooms with good mountain view. Stayed for 4 nights in the beginning of April. Running hot water was available 24 x7 as well as good wifi. Room, toilet & linens were clean. The whole property gives you a sense of cleanliness. The cosy dining room is nicely decorated too. The roof top is also nice and you can see Shanti Stupa and Leh Palace. They charged Rs 1200 for the room with electric room heater & kettle and Rs 150 for breakfast and Rs 200 for lunch / dinner. Charged extra Rs 50 for use of room heater through out the night. Home cooked food was limited but tasty. Only hosts (housewife & her working husband & daughter) stay inside the same gated compound which gives you some sort of security. Charu guest house is actually right behind the pricy Stone Hedge hotel and inside a narrow lane in front of Hotel Malik Residency. It's better to book directly with guest house. You can see their contact details in their facebook page. There are a few other similar guest houses in this area and they are almost as good as any other hotel in Leh which are twice more costly. In Uleytokpo - a picturesque locale near Leh, we stayed in a very reputed resort (Ule Ethnic Resort), paid more than thrice still didn't get running hot water, room heaters, power back up & working wifi - as promised. Read moreWow what a wonderful experience it was! Just Fantastic and Fabulous. I met a family who doesn’t have any kind of attitude and they will kill you with their kindness. They never made us to feel like we are on vacation it was a family house more than a guest house. I never met any person like Charu didhi in my entire life. I never felt like going back to home after I finished the trip and we stayed an extra couple of days to just spend some time with the family. I still can’t come out of those warm welcomes and tremendous care they shown on us. When it comes to food it is fantastic, fabulous with low cost, I challenge you cannot find that quality in any other Guest house in entire Leah. I highly recommend to spend your time here when you are in Leh. I eagerly waiting to go back when I find some leaves in office. Trust me you don’t feel like you are going back home you feel like you are leaving...
