Cosmos Hotels — Hotel in Mall Road Area

Located in the middle of Mall road, the Hotel Cosmos & New Cosmos (same property) with its immensely spacious rooms could have been the hottest property in Shimla. However, lack of maintenance, impolite staff and lack of amenities have reduced it to an average hotel. We have checked in this hotel on Christmas eve, with the hope to enjoy our Christmas on the ridge. However, our plans were impacted by the night curfew and we have to return to our rooms by 10.15 pm. The manager was not cooperative to serve us food after 10.00, and it was only after lot of requests and pleading that he obliged and we were served the food after 1 hour. The rooms were large and spacious, even more than the 4-star hotels that were there, but they were not properly sanitized (which is a requirement post-Covid). The amenities that were provided complimentary were towels, hot water, old TV and quilt. Major amenities that were missing were toiletries, dental kit, mineral water, room heater, tea-coffee sachet, electric kettle, sleepers and others that I can't think of right now. The overall reviews are terribly bad but my experience has been overall good.||||Location: the best advantage is location. 5 mins walk to mall road (lift area). park your vehicle at cart road and then you need not to use lift again.||||Food: didn't have it there but they have a restaurant there.||||Service: Its average. heater was not working as there was only one slot, and hence either TV or heater could work, but they arranged 3 pin plug and made it possible. the effort was there, hence marks given for that. front desk person was cordial in dealing.||||parking: as situated on mall road, no parking available. pls park your vehicles on card road||||room and facilities: good for short stay of 1 or 2 days. heater was working which was provided on chargeable basis. towels and 1 soap was provided. but hotel should as check as geyser was not working properly and cold water started flowing after 5 mins. that was terrible. Bad Things : Room heater available on extra charges Deluxe rooms are small on size Blankets are not in better condition and not sufficient to protect you from cold weather in Shimla. Changing of two lifts to reach to the room on top floor is really confusing and difficult

Worst Things : They will charge you Rs.200 for a room key which is unbelievable, if by chance and unintentionally you break the room key while opening the room door. Telephones placed inside room are not in working condition Charging points are less and not in working condition although it was repaired after one night of stay. Room windows will stay open because it needs to be repaired and even after complaint, it was not repaired and due to that cold air was getting inside room which was making the room...
