Let me first say that in no way does this review reflect the staff associated with house keeping, restaurants, or concierge. This review strictly affects the check-in staff, front desk management and general management.
DO NOT STAY HERE.
I had booked a 2-night stay, 3 executive rooms (regular rooms) through a travel agency. The travel agency sent me the confirmation 2 months in advance. I paid the travel agency which in turn was supposed to pay the hotel. Apparently, when we got to the hotel, ITC Maurya said the hotel was fully booked but since the room was prepaid and under a reservation, they will upgrade the room at no charge to a suite so the family can stay together. Given it was 8pm at night and traveling with children and elderly, we agreed. I provided a credit card for incidentals as requested and a $600 hold was placed on the credit card. All standard practice and did not feel concerned. Let it be known that standard room average is approximately $200-300 USD a night per room even booked the day off. So even if there was an issue with the travel agency’s payment, I would expect to pay no more than $2,000 USD for the entire trip and would take it up with the travel agent after the trip. The hotel never said there was any issue with payment.
Needless to say, when we returned to the U.S., there was a charge of $4,280 USD for 3 rooms for 2 nights. This was an extreme overcharge. I reached out to the hotel, and they denied any liability. Had multiple conversations with the hotel front manager who would not assist in resolving this dispute besides saying that they were not responsible, and no wrongdoing was committed. I reached out to the general manager via email and never received a response back. I even agreed to pay the standard rate and not the extortion amount they charged. Again, they did not want to actually respond to the issue at hand and hear what the problem was. Instead, standard response of they didn’t do anything wrong. I write this as a word of caution about this hotel and their business practices. It’s a shame that a large multi-national hotel brand would conduct business in this manner. I stayed at ITC hotels in Mumbai, Jaipur and Agra and did not have any issues. ITC Maurya is the only place we had issues. I will share this information on many other platforms so no one else has to deal with this.
Other items that occurred to me that was odd after I returned home: They assigned three rooms to us. One was under my 8 yr. old daughter’s name, one under my name with a false address and one under another person traveling with us that was not even part of the reservation. No receipt was ever provided to us while we were there. Even though their own paperwork has a place for a signature to authorize the charge. I came to find this out as we were investigating the charge. On multiple occasions, they requested to make copies of our passports even though they did at check in. Seemed like very odd behavior. When we were checking in, a person from the back room came out to take care of our reservation from the person that was doing our check-in, which was odd. Almost like a salesman.
The hotel will deny all these claims, come up with ways to blame the consumer and they can do whatever they want. I can tell you that there are more reputable hotels to stay at in New Delhi, unfortunately, this is not one of them. Buyer beware. This is what people encounter that lead to a bad reputation of India.
UPDATE - 04/04/2024 * Mr. Kidwai, you have my contact information. You can ask Satvik Joshi who i spoke with multiple times with zero results. I want you to do whats right and not overcharge me for the rooms. Additionally, I reached out to YOU via email on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. I have yet to see a response from you regarding this matter. Prewritten messages like what you provided does not resolve any issues. If you want to resolve this amicably, please reach out to me via email and I will more than happy to work with...

Read moreI am writing directly to Mr Amaal Kidwai and Mr Bhanu Ahulawalia. I don't know where to start so just let me start on 27th of April I landed in Delhi from Edinburgh and I invited my friend to ITC, Maurya for the dinner and of course Bukhara is in our list because we heard lots about it. So I entered the property around 7:30 or 8 PM and the first reaction of a guard was nothing less than humiliating and he said, Ab Uber waale bhi 5 star hotel aayenge and later when I was about to book a table for two at the Bukhara the welcome host there was so rude that they don't even had a time to listen to us and after ten minutes he said in a very impolite tone that it will take 2 hours and later said 'Ab dhaba main Dal khaane waale Bukhara aayenge. For your information let me tell you he was wearing the same Kurta Pyjama what a Bukhara server wears. One of your guard constantly kept commenting on my friends attire like his shoes and cloth brands. Later Kolkata Knight Riders team came and during that time all your guards and staffs left us unattended just to see them and we had to wait for food and other things and even your guards misbehaved with lots of people and my friend. At one point your staff in traditional Indian attire welcomes the foreigners by applying the tikka and arti which is a symbol of Indian tradition and at the same time they treat the same Indian in a very pathetic manner. I have been to Taj Properties across India and for your information they treat each and everyone equally and fairly, they show the ethos of the honourable Mr Tata and his predecessors. The only reason why I am giving one star because of the great service of Mr Pratyush who attended us at 'The Pavilion'. Train your staff to be courteous and polite and most importantly try to treat every guests fairly irrespective of whether they are cricketers or film stars. Before finishing let me add one more thing if this is the way your staff treats the regular guests then sorry and not sorry the rich kids or brats of Delhi treats your staff in very insolent manner then those rich ones are doing good. A request to all don't go to this hotel either for staying or dining untill and unless you are millionaires or billionaires or someone who bas 10 to 15 bodyguards, if you don't then they will remind you that you don't belong to this...
