So in the Qmin App I noticed that they have a Mother's Day Special Meal Box for delivery from Captial Kitchen of Taj Palace and decided to order this. They had 2 options Veg and Non Veg and in those there were 2 size options - meal for 2 or meal for 4 . We ordered the Meal for 4 Non-Veg and got a 25% discount via our Credit Card and it costed us ₹3500 which is very very good for the quality, quantity and taste of the items being sent . We got the item delivered perfectly on time .
The Mother's Day Special Meal included - 2 starters , 2 Main Course , 2 Sides , 2 desserts , 1 Mug and a special Gift for mother's Day (Kajal). They also had a discount code from a Makeup Brand which was for mother's day. The food was -
Chicken , Arugula and Pine Nut Salad - This was a wonderful light salad with fresh Arugula as the base topped with Chicken , Pinenuts and Granny Smith Apple . There was a side of thick ranch dressing which can be used as another topping and both with and without it , was just awesome ! The taste was great . 5/5
Wild Salmon Galletes - This was like a small Salmon patty . It was really tasty, very different flavours , mild yet a bit of herbs and spices would come through. This dish is supposed to be eaten hot. It comes along with a Quinoa Salasa (which should be cold) and was a perfect pairing with the Salmon as it was light and super refreshing. Again the Quinoa Salsa was also full of flavours . 5/5.
Vegetable Paella - Another fantastic dish . This was a perfectly cooked Paella with a rich yellow colour . It had beans , Bell peppers and tomatoes and the Veggies were cooked perfectly aswell. Wonderful flavours in the rice and was delicious overall. Another 5/5.
Hassel Backed Potatoes - A full potato sliced up and served with a delicious herb butter , this was another fantastic dish. The potato was cooked very well and that rich and not too creamy herb butter was just fantastic . Such good flavours , real comfort food. 5/5 again .
Chia Crusted River Sole - This dish was disappointing honestly. It looked great and was served with a Chickpea Puree and Cherry Tomatoes but the fish was very bland and no real flavours even after adding salt. Rating this 3/5 cause the fish was well cooked otherwise.
Roast Lamb - Fabulous dish and the star of the night . The Lamb pieces were fantastic and had a wonderful Pomegranate Glaze on it , a little sweet but because of the inherent flavour of the Lamb it was just a perfect combo. Delicious and lip smacking dish . Perfectly cooked lamb and the flavours were just perfect. Dish of the night and 5/5.
Chocolate Hazelnut Torte - It is their signature Chocolate cake and was topped off with mango chunks . It was a nice cake , spongey but nothing special. Rating this 3.5/5
Berry Crumble - Absolutely amazing dish with a huge portion ! This was very nice , decently sweet , perfectly cooked cookie , nice and tart berry jam , a thick vanilla sauce and the combination of the flavours was just perfect. Rating this 5/5 .
The meal was also served with bread rolls and butter. Taj's packaging is fantastic , all recyclable packaging , very well packed and no spillage whatsoever . They always deliver on or even before time showing punctuality . The difference from ordering a 5 star compared to even any high end standalone restaurant is really apparent on the packaging and timing. Taste was great for most things though a few things weren't upto the mark , but the quantity for the price was fantastic. Infact half the meal was enough for 3 people so absolutely worth it. Rating my experience 5/5 because of the...
Read moreCapital Kitchen - Multi Cuisine Restaurant in Chanakyapuri Nestled in the prestigious Taj Palace, New Delhi, Capital Kitchen stands out as a gem among the city's dining options. My recent visit to this multi-cuisine restaurant left me thoroughly impressed, and I can confidently say that it is a must-visit for both locals and tourists seeking a culinary experience that transcends the ordinary. From the moment you step into Capital Kitchen, the ambiance exudes elegance and sophistication. The lobby-level setting, complemented by tasteful decor, creates an inviting atmosphere that is both comfortable and upscale. The world-class facilities reflect the attention to detail that one would expect from a Taj property. Now, let's talk about the food! I opted for the Palace Fish and Chips along with the Black Bean Burger and potato wedges. Both dishes were a revelation. The Fish and Chips were expertly cooked, featuring perfectly crispy batter that encased tender, flaky fish. It was a delightful nod to traditional British fare, elevated by the restaurant's signature touch. The Black Bean Burger was equally impressive; it was hearty and flavourful, providing a satisfying meat-free option that didn’t skimp on taste. The accompanying potato wedges were perfectly seasoned and complemented the meal beautifully. The presentation of the dishes was professional and visually appealing, reflecting the high standards of the establishment. Every bite was a testament to the chef's skill, with flavours that were well-balanced and thoughtfully curated. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, further enhancing the overall dining experience. In conclusion, Capital Kitchen at Taj Palace is more than just a restaurant; it is a culinary destination that promises an unforgettable dining experience. Whether you're in the mood for comfort food or something more exotic, the diverse menu offers something for everyone. I left with a full belly and a happy heart, eagerly anticipating my next visit. Highly recommended for anyone looking to indulge in fantastic cuisine in an...
Read moreI have always been a loyal admirer of Taj Hotels and Restaurants, believing that no other hotel chain can match their hospitality and exceptional food quality. However, my recent experience has left me deeply disappointed.
I paid INR 3,500 plus taxes per person for the buffet, only to find that the menu included just two vegetarian starters—both of which lacked the expected quality. While the captain was kind enough to bring an additional veg starter, unfortunately, it too failed to impress.
The main course selection was unconventional featuring items like yellow dal, bhindi, and kala channa—dishes that hardly reflect a celebratory feast. We had come for a special occasion with my elderly parents, and sadly, the experience did not live up to expectations.
The desserts were another letdown, consisting mainly of cakes with barely any hot-served options, except for a subpar halwa. Given the stature of Taj, I expected a much more thoughtfully curated spread.
I am sharing this review in the hope that the restaurant reconsiders its menu choices, incorporating more mainstream snacks and vegetarian options to remain competitive with establishments like JW Marriott and ITC Maurya. Never did I imagine having to write such a review about Taj, but my trust was truly shaken. Spending INR 18.5K for this meal felt like money thrown away, as my entire family echoed the...
