A beautiful, quiet, island for those like us seeking a truly authentic Indonesian escape away from the busyness of the other Gili Islands.|We feel so lucky and blessed to have seen a promotion for Kura Kura resort on Gili Meno which offered a four night package including transport from our hotel in Southern Lombok.||The wonderful Adi took our booking and arranged all our transport with a fabulous driver, Dewa. They could not have been more helpful and kind. A pool with excellent shading is just outside every room of this boutique hotel. ||The restaurant right on the beach overlooking Gili Air and the mountains of Lombok behind is an extraordinarily beautiful space to sit and plan the day over breakfast.||Being just next to the port makes it so easy to catch the regular ferries that come and go every hour to visit the other two islands each just fifteen minutes away. My girlfriend and I have traveled quite a bit through Southeast Asia, and we’ve never stayed somewhere as poorly maintained as Kura Kura Resort in Gili Meno. The photos online are completely misleading what we walked into was dirty, run-down, and clearly neglected.
Our room smelled musty, the floor was sticky, and the furniture was stained and old. The pool area was filthy, the chairs were torn and rusty, and everything felt like it hadn’t been taken care of in years. The overall cleanliness was unacceptable, and basic maintenance was clearly lacking.
To make things worse, the resort isn’t even in a good part of the island. The beach out front is rocky and not nice for swimming, and you have to walk quite a distance to reach the more beautiful spots on Gili Meno.
The staff didn’t help the situation either. From the moment we arrived, we were treated with attitude, and when we politely mentioned some of the issues, the response was defensive and rude. There was absolutely no sense of hospitality or professionalism.
