Mama Melani Warung — Restaurant in West Nusa Tenggara

Was very disappointed. Went there due to the good reviews. The juices are watered down - worst watermelon juice and pineapple juices we had in Indonesia. The gado gado and mie goreng were 'so so'. We did not go back but passed the restaurant most mornings. They play loud music from very early in the morning and it seems to be for the young men there not for the customers, did not get a good feel from this place due to the music and was a bit chaotic working out how to be served etc. I hope we just caught them on a bad day with the food and drink but the atmosphere with the loud early morning music would have driven us away anyway to be honest, that's just not what people go to Gili Meno for.

Response to Owner: We had lunch on 8th May 2024 and walked past almost daily for a week. The music was very loud at 8am on multiple occasions. And my account is real. I do not wish to be threatened by anyone for raising issues that are genuine and authentic - I will retain my privacy as much as possible as I felt uneasy as a woman when walking past your restaurant/lodgings in the mornings. I hope that you are able to reflect on these genuine concerns. Very good food! I had the seafood noodles and they were amazing. However, we did have to wait over 2 hours for the food (some in our group got it after about an hour, the rest after more than two). I get that they were busy, but when this happened before at another restaurant, the server let us know that there would be a bit of a wait so we could decide whether to stay or not, while here they kept saying it was coming when it clearly wasn't.

I also don't recommend for anyone with food allergies/intolerances, as one person in our group specifically asked for one of the ingredients not to be in the dish as she was allergic, and when the meal came it did have it in it. She sent it back to the kitchen saying she was allergic only to have the server come back out with the dish staying sorry we're busy, and expecting her to eat it anyway. They also didn't understand when asked about milk options for someone lactose intolerant.

But other than that, the location is great and the food too, just maybe don't go during...

I'm surprised by the good opinions about this place. We ordered curry, mie goreng (75k IDR + tax!!) and 2 juices. The curry was ok (and I'm adding one point for that), but the taste of the goreng was terrible due to the amount of salt. I returned the dish to the kitchen, and a moment later the waiter came back with a plate to check if it was OK. The first taste was, so I confirmed it, but at the end there was a lot of salt again. I returned it again and left without even hearing an apology, but the staff eagerly exchanged comments in Indonesian (You know when they are talking about you, especially when you add the knowledge of a few words to your sensitivity...). The prices are ridiculously high compared to other warungs in Gili Meno (Gili Air and Bali, too), where you can eat and drink much better for much less. Take into account that you have to add % to the prices of dishes. The place focused on a one-shot customer. Not recommend PS. For mie goreng and juice I paid that price in five-star...
