Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! Overpriced and rancid: the worse food I've ever had in a restaurant in my entire Life! Not kidding. Even the smiling waiter could not save anything. If hell had a restaurant, it would have been Tipsy Turtle on Gili Meno harbour.
We ordered 2 pizzas (Chorizo and Pepperoni) and a Greek salad. Total bill: 256K !!!
The Tipsy Turtle "restaurant" has the nerve to serve their guests FROZEN OVERPRICED PIZZAS without informing about it on the menu cards! That's dishonest and cunning. Had we known about this scam, we wouldn't have eaten there. Sorry, but there are absolutely no excuses for this type of scam especially when poorly made cheap frozen pizzas are being sold for 90K!!!
The Greek salad had iceberg salad in it and the tomatoes tasted like water ? And no olive oil nor feta cheese? Instead they fooled us by sprinkling a type of sour cheese crumbles. Not feta. We naturally asked where the feta cheese was, and instead we got more crumbles. Seems like the waiters don't even know what garbage they are serving their guests. The portion was also WAY TOO SMALL for the price.
Now for the frozen pizzas: it literally was the most horrible thing I've ever eaten. The chorizo and the Pepperoni on the pizzas tasted like canned beef. And the tomato sauce was ketchup. Not to mention the cheese looking and tasting like plastic. The pizza bread was a processed floury mess. It was awful.
Gili Meno seriously lacks good restaurants. It's pathetic. If I could, I would have rated it -5.
I felt totally duped. Yet another reason why I will never set my foot on Gili...
Read moreThe Tipsy Turtle, the in-house restaurant of the Kura Kura Resort, has a fine beachside location, overlooking the mesmerizing blues of the Gili Meno Harbour. The seating is comfortable and its white-hued furniture and design looks classy against the blue of the bay. I took a seat by the narrow wooden ledge with bar stools looking out to the sea. Other diners, too, had preferred the same. It doesn't matter what you eat or drink, the views of Gili Air and Lombok in the distance are absolutely divine. I was waiting for a boat to Bali, so I ordered comfort food - banana fritters with Icecream and drizzle of honey. The promised drizzle of honey and granulated sugar on top was missing in action. The banana in the fritters had a raw, unappealing taste. When I asked about the missing drizzle of honey, I was given two sachets of honey that was so well sealed that it didn't open. And the manager, while opening, messed it up and spilled it on the table and floor. Well, so far so good. The icecream and honey finally made the unpalatable fritters palatable and the incredible views was the icing on the...
Read moreIf you want a good feed, don't come here. Lovely views and decent fries weren't enough to fix the burrito. I ordered a beef burrito, but it only had about 3 or 4 tiny little pieces of meat in it. Burritos are meant to be made with ground beef, not small steak pieces, and you are supposed to get a good amount of meat in every bite. Everytime I bit into the thing I was just getting a mouthful of lettuce and sauce with the occaisonal bean. I love a good creamy meaty cheesy burrito, but this is the first water burrito I've ever encountered. Really dissappponted. Ate it because I was starving and didn't want to wait for something else, so paid the 95k for it... Don't do it to yourselves.
The staff were nice and the chips were okay, so 2 stars for that, but honestly, if you are charging more than most, the food quality needs to be improved or you will...
