We payed €70 each per night for this place and for that price we expected much better. After paying and seeing the dorm rooms and facilities we requested a refund to go somewhere else but it was denied. All 8 of us hated our stay at MBox and couldn't wait to leave.
Rooms: From the moment we checked in our door card never worked (no battery in the door card scanner) and was never fixed after 4 days there. We had to keep the window open to jump in as sometimes not even the stuff could open the door.
The AC barely worked and was dripping water through the door lightbulb. I can also imagine the last time the filters for the AC were cleaned.
Bathrooms: They smelled horrible and the state of the facilities was also really bad.
Location: One of the only decent things about the place as it's not a long walk from the front.
Social: They people were nice and easy to talk to before going out. The parties at the Club Tequila sunrise were also very good...
Read moreWe booked a private room at MBox for three nights, expecting a standard level of quality similar to other hostels we’ve stayed at around the world. However, as soon as we entered the room, we were hit with an extremely strong chemical odor (urinal pucks on the shower floor) that made it almost impossible to breathe. It was so intense that we were genuinely concerned for our health and had no choice but to book another hotel for the night.
The next morning, we spoke with the manager to request a refund. While the staff was friendly and welcoming, the manager ultimately refused to refund us, stating that it was just “because of the smell.” In our opinion, this wasn’t simply about disliking an odor, it was about the room being unfit to stay in.
To be fair, the staff was great and the atmosphere looked fun. The location is also convenient. But considering the price, there are definitely better options nearby if you’re looking for...
Read moreThis is the worst hostel I’ve stayed in. I don’t understand the 5 star reviews at all. Have they been paid to write them?? Our room was absolutely disgusting covered in stained sheets with mouldy peeling walls (I understand mould is apparent in Gili T but around the head of the bed sleeping area is gross), not a mirror in the room and the doors don’t lock even though you have to pay a deposit for a key card to get in, but it’s not even needed as they come into your room at night and check who is inside. We stayed in the female dorms but could hear men all night in the rooms too. There’s one thing as a party hostel but this is just vile. And for the price you’d expect not a shared bathroom between 40+ people. We rather lose the price we paid for the other nights and stayed at a nice hotel around the corner for cheaper with all amenities! Staff and people are lovely, it’s in the center but just can’t stay here...
