The rooms were cute but very small, especially with three of us in there. The main bed also tilted to one side and probably should have been replaced a little while ago. Most of the rooms are two floored cabins that had very thin ceilings and we were unfortunately placed in the room on the lower floor, which means we could hear every conversation and footstep from the guests above us. They did have the cool outdoor bathrooms which was a cool touch. Thankfully we didn't have any run in with spiders in the shower, which I have heard is something possible with the outdoor bathrooms.
The staff were incredibly friendly and really enjoyed having a conversation with the guests. They were able to help us with booking a snorkelling trip on one of the public boats which was super helpful. Having breakfast provided was also really nice, highly recommend the French toast with banana.
We also tried the restaurant for dinner since they were known for the burgers. The burgers personally weren't anything amazing to me, but the tacos were fantastic!
There are no cars on any of the Gili islands, so it's easy to walk everywhere, including from the hotel. Though in comparison to other places to stay it was a "further" walk to the beach over some pretty lumpy roads. This distance did mean it was a bit more secluded from the busier areas though which was nice, especially during the night.
As I know many other people have mentioned, the mosque is quite loud and works as an alarm starting around 4/4:30am. This definitely wasn't the hotels fault, and from what I was able to tell, there was no escaping it from anywhere on the island. They do provide ear plugs but unless you're a heavy sleeper, be prepared for some early mornings.
I don't think I will be returning to Gili T anytime soon, but Voodoo was a nice place to stay while...

It’s sad, because the hotel is really perfect: staff is friendly, it’s clean, the food and pool is very good. It normally deserves 5 stars.
BUT:
The muezzin next to it blows out every day with an incredible volume at 4:45 AM for 5 minutes, then again at 05:00 AM, a few more times during the day and from 7:00-8:30 pm up to 90 minutes. I measured up to 80db measured in my bed. As a reference, this is the volume of a high speed train passing by with 10m distance.
Even with ear plugs which are provided by the hotel this is not the holiday you want. You cannot get that drunken to not frequently wake up from it.
It’s a shame for the hotel and I feel very sorry for my lack of cultural respect, but this form of religious fanaticism ruins your Gili experience completely. Do yourself a favor and mind the hotel and everything nearby to the mosques.
I am so sorry for the Voodoo team :( but there is one single reason to book a hotel: to get a good rest at night (or at least at any point during day instead). This is not given. Everything else is just nice to have.
Maybe you can talk and convince the mullah to decrease the...
Read morePool looks great, staff is friendly. Surrounding can be chaotic due to noisy neighbors and indeed the frequently mentioned mosque.
We had problems with checking out. All cards were not accepted as they had problems with their machine. For this reason we had to pay cash which was stressful since we had limited time to catch our transfer back to europe.
I believe it’s not fair to make it our problem that 5 cards were not working on the machine. We stayed for over 3 weeks in Indonesia , however, never experienced troubles with mastercard and Visa.
We think its also not fair that staff kept blaming it on the ‘dutch cards’ Master and visa are international payment methods and have nothing to do with our origin. Moreover, if its indeed true that Dutch cards are frequently a problem, why not mentioning this by check in??
Please fix the issue with the card machine or communicate this during check in, and thereby provide sufficient time to go to...
