Our 2nd Plataran hotel, after Bromo.|I really like this "boutique-hotel" style located just at the right place, with a very elegant architecture and interior decoration, in a beautiful natural outdoor setting. When you arrive, it really has this effect: Wow!|We took one of the "simplest" rooms, a deluxe premier room with 2 twin beds, but even this one was spacious, comfortable, nicely decorated and with everything you need. Of course, this comes with : a friendly, smiling and attentive staff and taking care of everything so you feel relaxed and comfortable; a very good breakfast in a nice place or outside by the pool; excellent dishes (special mention to the Hot Chcolate Fondant, very much appreciated by my daughter!) from the Menoreh restaurant that we preferred to devour in our room. Even the laundry was perfect!|The customer service is top notch: they organized all our transfers to/from Yogyakarta, attentive to our need for flexibility, as the route and schedule have not been completely pre-determined; they also organized our jeep tour to Merapi, taking great care to choose a guide who speaks some English.|We took the time to take a little tour of the property. If I understood correctly, the property includes both the Plataran Heritage which is made up of the main building (where we had our room) and the villas of the Resort, which are scattered behind the large building. When we were there, major works (well advanced already) were in progress, close to the villas, in order to enhance the exceptional location of the property , given that we were able to see the temple of Borobudur from the terrace of the Patio Colonial restaurant.|In the end, I really regret having spent only 2 nights at the Plataran. Because in reality, apart from the visit of the Borobudur temple, the other activities (visit of Prambanan and jeep tour to Merapi) are taking place near Yogjakarta, where you can't find any "good hotel" (I tested the Novotel and the Melia). If I had to do it again, I would spend every night at the Plataran, to be quiet and in a much healthier air (you could smell the polluted air in the room in the 2 hotels in Yogyakarta) and from there organize the activities: a day for Borobudur, another for Prambanan and the cultural visit of Yogyakarta and another for Merapi and souvenir shopping in Yogyakarta. I know it's a lot of car trips, but we took the train for our longest...
Read moreWe had an amazing time at this lovely resort! Upon arrival we were made aware that building works were going on near our villa, so we were given the option to upgrade to the next category or receive 30% off. We preferred our villa, so we opted for the latter. To compensate us for a any noise or other disturbance, we also received a complimentary one-hour massage as well as a majestic sunrise breakfast. As we had an early check out, before the regular breakfast service started, t was the perfect his was the perfect solution for us. The majestic sunrise breakfast meant we could enjoy a mini breakfast buffet, all to ourselves whilst watching the sunrise over Borobodur and we were also able to choose a la carte items as well, which were cooked for us especially. This was SO MUCH BETTER than a breakfast box to go! In fact, it was a wonderful last experience before heading to the airport.
We loved everything about this resort. The villa was classic Indonesian style, huge and well laid out and impeccably clean. The staff couldn't do enough for us and were consistent in this approach. We were really made to feel like valued guests at all times. By the way, if anyone is worried about staying while building works are going on, don't be. We hardly noticed any noise and did not feel it intruded on our stay particularly. The food, especially at breakfast was excellent, better than the Oberoi in Lombok, where we stayed earlier on in our trip! I am gluten-free and the staff at Plataran made me the most delicious fluffy gluten-free pancakes with fruit compote. The breakfast consisted of a buffet, in addition to a la carte items which you could order. It even included a chocolate fountain, which our 10--year-old couldn't get enough of. The coffee (cappuccino) was the best we had in 3 weeks travelling through Indonesia and Singapore!
Our stay was excellent in every way, the only little thing that could have been improved is the outdoor area of our villa, which could have been made to look more inviting, but it was one of the older villas and will probably be replaced in the near future. Overall, we rate everything very highly about this resort, the location, the villas and facilities, the food and drink and most of all the staff, who were all very kind and helpful. We thoroughly recommend staying here if you're...
Read moreHad a very pleasant stay at Plataran Borobudur. We're traveling as a family of 3 (2 adults with a 4 year old). The villa is beautiful, clean, well maintained and fully equipped. Our favorite feature was the water dispenser, it's very convenient to have one in the villa!
What stood out the most is their service, everyone there were very friendly, sincere and they will go an extra mile for the guest. We had quite many chat with them and glad to know that the resort employed 80% of local residents. All of our communication and requests were done via whatsapp, so everything is literally within our fingertips, very convenient for us introverts 😊 special shoutout to our driver who drove us back and forth to Borobudur Temple and then straight to Enam Langit then back to the Villa, skipping his lunch and all.
Food wise, we've tried all of their restaurants (Patio, Menoreh, Stupa and Enam Langit) and all were consistently good! It's a deal breaker for us since we have limited options of restaurant in that area so it's really a relief to know that we can rely on their food.
For the little ones, they have multiple facilities and activities sorted; from children carnaval (traditional rides like merry go round, flying balloon, etc), indoor and outdoor playground, bird aviary, deers, rabbits, peacoks, tortoise and goats. My 4 year old cried when it's time for us to leave, that can only means she truly enjoyed her stayed here a lot.
The only downside is that they have undergoing renovation in the resort area so some noises can be heard around 7am onwards (not really bothering us since we're all up by then).
All in all, we're very pleased with Plataran Borobudur, it exceeded our expectation. We'll return...
