I arrived at Plataran Heritage Borobudur Hotel at 16.45. The location is still about 3 km from the entrance of Borobudur. Arriving at the hotel, it turned out that I was immediately informed that the afternoon tea hours were only until 17.00. Arriving at the Lobby, I was immediately directed by the greeter to drink a welcome drink (ice ginger) first, then I was informed that the items will be brought directly to the room while I can enjoy afternoon tea first. For afternoon tea, there are coffee/tea, wedang asle, traditional snacks (fried cassava cheese, sponge cake, pukis, sticky rice cake). Very good taste. After afternoon tea, we went straight to our room to rest. Each room is only given one key. The room is quite spacious with a 200x200 bed, armchair, desk and work chair. My babymoon set was approved with a swan art towel and very intentional flower writing and decoration also provided a full happy babymoon cake with orange, strawberry, grape and frosted chocolate toppings. Not only that, on the work table there is also a fruit platter containing oranges, salak and bananas. The interior is a combination of colonial modern with a very luxurious impression. The interior workmanship is very detailed, I almost didn't find any flaws in the interior of this room except in the closet near the cupboard and there was only a slight leak in the wall. Superb cleanliness was maintained, I checked all the grooves in the room even in public places and there was not the slightest dust either in the grooves or in the decorative parts which are usually rarely cleaned. Rooms are equipped with balconies, the air was very fresh. I got a view of the sky menoreh (rooftop bar), swimming pool and hills. Very soothing. In the room provided 2 glass bottles of mineral water which can be refilled for free. Tea uses dilmah and coffee uses private brands. There is a paid minibar. The bathroom does not have a bathtub but is equipped with a head shower and a hand shower. Standard amenities of soap, shampoo and toothbrush. Shampoo and soap smell very good. For other amenities, we can request via telephone. 2 body towels and 2 hand towels are provided. The lobby smells good and has lots of beautiful and detailed ornate artwork. The swimming pool is quite large and close to the restaurant. The gym is small and has minimal equipment. Here there are also various paid activities such as horse riding, ATV and many others. For the free one there is a morning walk, you must make a reservation in advance. There is a kidsclub which is one area with a minizoo. Here there are chickens and rabbits that are deliberately released to accompany the children to play. The animals are peacock, rabbit, duck, goose, chicken, turtle and fish. Kidsclub provides drawing activities and games. For dinner, I recommend trying it at the incised sky because the view is very good and at night the lighting really spoils the eyes Breakfast starts from 06.00 am to 10.00 am. The choice of food is quite varied and 95% of the taste of the food is very good, even including the 2nd best breakfast during my stay at the hotel. Menu options include: Main Course (Soto fried rice, vegetable fried kwetiau, capjay, chicken with butter sauce, sweet and sour squid, fucilli aglio e olio, cauliflower mornay, beef stroganoff, chicken sausage and hashbrown) Traditional corner (stew, crackers, jenang, kupat tofu, snack market) Bakery Pastry (donut, croissant, pastry, pudding, slice cake, muffin, cake roll, pie) Fresh section (fresh juice (watermelon, melon, orange), infused water, cereal, salad, sushi, cheese, nuts, fruit (watermelon, papaya, melon, dragon fruit, banana, salak, orange) Outdoor area (quesadilla, waffle and pancake, soto, porridge, dimsum, fried food) What I highly recommend is the fried chicken, butter fried chicken, dim sum and sweet and sour squid, and especially the fruits. The fruits...

My recent stay at Plataran Heritage Hotel in Borobudur was nothing short of enchanting, as this hidden gem nestled amidst lush landscapes and rich cultural heritage offered a truly unforgettable experience. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the hotel's charm, warm hospitality, and exquisite ambiance.
The hotel's traditional Javanese architecture and design blend seamlessly with the surrounding natural beauty, creating an atmosphere of serenity and tranquility. The open-air lobby with its intricate wooden carvings and traditional decor provided a glimpse into the rich local heritage, instantly transporting me to a bygone era.
The staff at Plataran Heritage Hotel were the epitome of warmth and professionalism. Their genuine smiles and attentive service made me feel like an honored guest, and their deep knowledge of the area helped me plan my exploration of Borobudur with ease.
My room was a delightful sanctuary, elegantly furnished with a touch of local flair. The plush bed and modern amenities ensured a comfortable stay, while the private balcony afforded breathtaking views of the nearby paddy fields and the majestic Borobudur Temple in the distance.
The hotel's dining experience was a journey of culinary delights. The on-site restaurant offered a delectable array of traditional Javanese dishes as well as international cuisine. I particularly enjoyed the signature dishes made from locally sourced ingredients, reflecting the hotel's commitment to sustainability and supporting local communities.
The highlight of my stay was undoubtedly the Plataran Borobudur Spa. Read moreA very nice colonial style hotel about 10 minutes drive from Borobudur temple. Set on the outskirts of town and accessed via a beautiful sweeping driveway into gardened grounds with a small decorative "rice paddy" in front of the entrance.
We visited during low season so the staff to guest ratio was high. Staff very attentive and nothing was too much trouble.
The most incredible breakfast spread with every nationality (and more) catered for. If your tour leaves early, they will happily do you a continental or Nasi Goreng or sandwich breakfast box to take out as long as you order it the night before.
Room was big with aircon and a terrace; bath with shower & toiletries,; hairdryer; safe and mini bar; comfortable bed; complimentary water and plenty of hanging space.
Hotel had area on 5th floor terrace where our room rate included complimentary afternoon tea/coffee/juice and sweet/savoury snacks.
They have a restaurant on site for lunch or dinner. Prices for food & drinks are +21% taxes. Alternatively there are some local noodle bars on the street outside the main gate.
Hotel also has a lovely swimming pool and offers spa service on top floor with massages at extra cost.
Randomly in the hotel grounds they have a small kids funfair with about 5 rides. They also run activities from the hotel like horse rides; quad biking; cycling etc.. look on their website for info.
This hote (Plataran Heritage) has x2 sister hotels which you can get their free shuttle bus to visit. There is one in the hills about 30 min drive away (Plataran Shailendra) with a nice pool and good views. From here you can take a short walk at the back of the hotel to a slightly higher view point on the hill. Shuttle leaves you there for approx 2 hrs. Its way too far to walk back. There is a pool bar and restaurant called (Enam Langit) on site. Their other hotel (Plataran Resort & Spa) is actually at the back of the Heritage hotel. It has a very nice restaurant on site called Patio Colonial. Also has swimming pool. This sister hotel is set more amongst the forest and has a good view of Borobudur in the distance. Although we didn't do it, I think you can just walk through the grounds at the back of the Heritage to get to the Resort and Spa Hotel instead of taking the shuttle.
None of the 3 Plataran hotels are in walking distance to Borobudur, nor to the "town" area. There's no pavement even if you did want to attempt it.
Overall a very good stay in a luxurious colonial...
