Romantic holiday turned mould nightmare
My partner and I had planned a romantic new years getaway which started off with the yellow bridge being closed and no communication from the hotel about this or help to pick us up, we had to leave our bike on the other side and pay a local to take us. When we got to the villa, we discovered random patches on the wall painted over and thought it was strange - but this made sense after a few days when the mould started coming through on these areas.
After the first night, we both woke up feeling a bit sniffly but didn’t think too much about it. That night my partner developed a 40 degree fever and we both started coughing, and had a very chesty cough for 4 days straight. It was raining at this time and when I realised all my makeup had been drenched (I left this in the bathroom but the bathroom was taking in water causing everything yo get wet) I saw the mould, and it made sense why there were random paint patches in the room. When we looked closer, we could see mould everywhere - in the bathroom, the sink, the walls, the AC. No wonder we were both sick!! We called and requested another room for our last night. As soon as we left that room we immediately felt better.
The shower in the new room had barely any hot water and super low water pressure, I couldn’t even wash my hair.
I know it’s Bali and these things are common, but I’ve stayed at $40 hostels with better and cleaner rooms. For a hotel that charges $200/night, this is unacceptable🤯
Will not be coming back here which is such a shame as I’ve been wanting to stay since the first time I came to the restaurant at this resort...
Read moreWe had a really nice time staying at the Blue Lagoon Avia Villas. The staff was very attentive and went above and beyond to help us arrange our transit bookings to get to our next accommodation. We also had some smaller issues (clogged shower drain, renting a scooter) they immediately helped us with. Very impressive overall!
The restaurant of the hotel was also one of the better ones we ate at. The view on the Blue Lagoon is stunning and something people from other hotels came by for. The food was diverse and not just your typical Indonesian menu. Some healthy options are provided as well.
Two things that did not spoil the experience, but that we wanted to provide feedback on: There were some noticable construction noises during our stay. It's May, it's still somewhat in the preseason and the hotel is building a water tank to provide fresh water to their guests, so it's all comprehensible that they are doing this now. It's also worth mentioning that they kept construction work to the middle of the day, where most people probably leave for activities around the island or are at least not disturbed in their sleep. Still, it would have been nice to be notified of this upfront. The open bathroom sometimes sounds a bit more romantic than it actually is. Definitely expect some ants or centipedes and the occasional leaves laying around in the shower. Another hotel we stayed at hat some wireframes in front of the openings. Not as romantically close to nature, but less insects and dead...
Read moreA wonderful retreat. It’s a beautiful property that offers a luxurious and peaceful experience. All villas come with a private pool and my 2 year old daughter had a great time in there.
Another standout feature is the Klyf Restaurant, perched on a cliff with breathtaking views overlooking the Blue Lagoon. Breakfast was tasty, though limited in variety as it’s served à la carte instead of a buffet. You can choose 2 drinks and 1 main course per person. Personally, I feel a buffet would have made more sense for variety and flexibility—but this didn’t take away from the overall experience.
The staff always welcoming, warm, and attentive. The hospitality is truly top-notch, and we had no complaints about our overall stay.
Supermarkets and restaurants are at walkable distance.
Reaching the resort takes a little effort. Once you arrive at Nusa Lembongan, take a taxi to the Yellow Bridge (IDR 150K). From there, cross the Yellow Bridge on foot to reach Nusa Ceningan. The resort operates a free shuttle every hour, but you must inform them in advance about your arrival time—otherwise, you may end up waiting up to an hour for the next one.
Pro Tip: Avoid renting a bike from the guy next to the reception (not affiliated with the resort, though), who charges IDR 150,000 per day. Instead, walk over to Blue Lagoon Resto, located just on the other side of the reception—he offers bikes at a much better rate of IDR...
