Unfortunately the Twilight villas did not live up to the reviews and we checked out a night early due to how poor our experience was. In summary, the positives are the brilliant seaview and the comfort of the beds. The negatives are sadly too numerous to summarise.
We were greeted at the yellow bridge drop-off point by two staff on motorbikes in a manner we could at best describe as lukewarm. A welcome drink was provided but we were instructed to clear up our own glasses before being escorted to our room. The view from the villa was nice, although is only a partial Seaview due to another property next door. The villa itself was basic and in need of some renovation. Several fittings were broken (see pictures) and the air-conditioning was completely useless during the day, but did the job at night time. The outside toilet is also in the full sun during the morning which is not ideal. The positives were a large, comfortable bed and universal plug sockets on either side for device charging.
The spectacular view from the pool and restaurant was the only redeeming quality of the grounds. The grass was largely dead around the whole resort, decorative elements were shabby and in need of restoration and most of the pool loungers were either broken or mouldy (pictured). Also, do not be fooled by the pictures, there is no beach on either side of the hotel, only two rocky outcrops covered in litter, one of which has a heart shaped pool whose only function seemed to be gathering dirty rain water.
Sadly the quality of the staffing is no better than any other part of the property. The staff spend their time hidden away in the kitchen, peering at you from underneath the window when you have a request and subsequently performing the minimum amount of work possible to satisfy it. We rarely saw a smile (which is very unusual for Bali) and also had an argument with one staff member about the hotel organised snorkeling trip after the pickup was 40 minutes later than agreed. A brief apology would have sufficed.
All in all, the fact we stayed only two nights instead of three speaks volumes about the quality of this hotel. We honestly couldn't bear another night and would not recommend...
Read moreThis was our final stop during our stay in this wonderful area of the world. We spent 5 nights at this hotel and were amazed by the price. In the UK we can spend upwards of £70 a night on a travelodge or premire Inn which is a tiny room in a large building in a congested city. Twilight Cenigan was £20 a night for a spacious room, incredible views and wonderfully relaxing pool area.||It would be impossible to talk about this hotel without talking about its wonderful staff. Dodik, Julie and the rest of the staff were amazing during our visit and helped us with scooter rentals and organising a trip over to the neighbouring island of Nusa Penida, where we were picked up by boat and given a guided car tour round the whole island before heading back on our boat and back to the hotel.||The views while having your breakfast are stunning. You look out to the coast of Bali in front of you, to the left you watch the surfers getting their practice in for the day and to the right you can watch the waves crashing against Devils Tears on Nusa Lembongan.||I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. The owners work tirelessly to make sure you're having a good time and the hotel is walking distance to other bars and restaurants if you fancy a change. The rooms are air conditioned, spacious and comfortable and the pool has views that will take your breath away. The menu and drinks are extensive offering local cuisine as well as home favourites like breaded chicken and pizza.||If you're heading to the island be aware that cars don't exist there and, if you want to go further in your exploration, you'll have to rent a scooter which we did for the sum of £5 a day.||Thank you Dodik, Julie and all of your staff for making our stay such a memorable one. Maybe one day we'll see you guys again....
