Makassi - Sama sama Thank you - you're welcome, and that's what they mean here!
After two weeks of Bali round trip we arrived at our last stop in Tegallalang. Finally, we wanted to enjoy a little luxury and tranquility before returning to everyday life. Our choice was GK Bali Resort and as it turned out we couldn't have made a better choice. The stay, while not cheap by Balinese standards, is worth every penny. We were received with genuine warm friendliness and lovingly cared for and pampered by the staff of eleven and the ever present Balinese owners. The people work with love and enthusiasm in this place and try from the heart to fulfill every wish. They make you feel welcome and a welcome guest. We booked a private villa with private pool for 5 nights. This turns out to be a little paradise with its own infinity pool. On a 150 sqm large, private, green property, shielded from the views of other guests, it is equipped with a dreamlike bathroom, incredibly beautiful sleeping area and a view to the tropical nature of rice fields and jungle. A lot of love has gone into every corner of this small, exotic complex (eight rooms and five villas). Everything is well thought out and pleasing to the eye. Everything is extremely neat and clean, invisible good spirits ensure every imaginable comfort. The food is fantastic, from Balinese to International. The menu selection for breakfast is large and there is something for every taste. Like all other meals, you can choose to have it in one of the two restaurants or on your own terrace, at no extra charge. The fresh juices are a dream and part of every breakfast. After our round trip we decided that one or the other massage would do us good and we booked it. Of course would have been cheaper outside of the hotel, but we doubt whether it is more worth the money, because the two massage therapists come into your own villa and massage on the comfortable sun loungers while you listen to the tropical sounds and the soothing splash of the fountain at the infinity pool. After these wonderful hands are done with you, you feel reborn and gladly slide into the free-standing bathtub in the dream bathroom again to give yourself the final relaxation. We heartily recommend this resort with the genuinely smiling friendly staff to experience the feeling of being close to paradise. As the food was so wonderful we booked a cooking class at the hotel. The course was great, the chef and his assistant chef lovingly introduced us to Balinese cuisine and explained every ingredient in detail and repeatedly reminded us to take things slowly and to prepare them with love. It became clear once again that we are doing everything much too quickly these days and are therefore taking away the happiness of the moment. The result was incredibly delicious, but way too much. At the end we got the recipes to take away and cook at home.
The resort is located about 30 minutes drive from Ubud in a very quiet area. So if you are looking for a party and the hustle and bustle of Ubud, this is not the place for you. 10 minutes away are the famous rice terraces of Tegallalang. The hotel's shuttle runs four times a day free of charge to Ubud and back in brand new, very comfortable vehicles. Paid taxis, as well as tours and transfers to the airport (about a two-hour drive) can also be booked.
If you want to relax your soul and body, this is the place for you.
To everyone who gave us this great stay, once again a...
Read moreGK BALI RESORT is located in village Sebatu in Ubud. The resort is relatively new in the hotel industry and they r expanding their premises. Currently it has 5 private villas and about 20 rooms if I'm correct, a dining area and a pool on their property which overlooks rice fields and a forest. The rooms are relatively good with decent amenities. Although, we did experience a tiny hitch with the balcony doors which were fixed quickly by the staff, the room was good. The bed is comfortable and you may not require the air conditioner after evening because it gets really cold. The place is isolated and very very quiet. Good place for couples and families. The restaurant is good. Breakfast is usually included with your booking. You can think of having dinner here. Its reasonably priced and fairly good on the palate. I recommend you to have the local cuisine that they have to offer. The pool overlooks the forest n rice fields and is a decent sized pool. the location is serene. The hotel offers transportation to the airport at 5,00,000 IDR and also offers you scooters on rent for every day travel at 1,50,000 IDR a day. They have a detailed itinerary of things they offer and a list of all essentials in Ubud placed in your room so you may want to read that. The staff is so very friendly and courteous. A special mention for Linda from the GK staff who was so kind and compassionate. She arranged for a breakfast box for us on the day we left the hotel since we had to leave early at 7.15 am and the breakfast area opens at 7.30 am. She had also offered us a local dessert for tasting during one of our dinners at the hotel. Ade at the reception were also very courteous and the entire staff, honestly, was very kind and welcoming in general. They do offer spa services but it will be in your room. Currently they do not have a spa room, however they are expanding the premises and are in the process of arranging an area for spa, yoga and Balinese cooking classes. So hopefully it will be there in the near future. Since it is almost a part of the forest you will have mosquitoes and very rarely a tiny odd lizard in the evening in your balcony or on the wall in your room. The staff will provide you with the requisites to keep them away but it's recommended to shut the balcony door at twilight. All in all you will certainly be well taken care of at this place. Read moreMe and my wife stayed in one of the villas for 12 days for our honeymoon. We could not be happier with our choice to stay here. As advertised, it is a utopia situated in the quiet village of Sebatu and away from all the noise and touristy areas of Bali. Every aspect of GK Bali Resort is amazing and we owe all of the staff on reception, the restaurant, and housekeeping a massive thank you for always being so friendly, helpful, and making our stay special.
From the point of arrival, we were made to feel completely at ease and the Resort is exactly like the photos. Our villa was spotless and had a stunning view over the rice fields and jungle. The bathroom is fully equipped with every toiletry imaginable, so do not worry about bringing any toiletries with you. The bed was very comfortable and we were able to have a good sleep every night of our stay. The pool is private and for the most part no one can see you, apart from the odd farmer working in the rice field but they never seemed to pay any attention to us.
Breakfast is included and there is a wide range of Indonesian and western choices. The amount of options meant we were able to have something different nearly every day and we were never disappointed. We particularly enjoyed the sliced fruit, fresh juices, and Bali coffee that comes with breakfast every day. Also included is afternoon tea which was different every day and always delicious. For dinner, there is a large choice of Indonesian and western dishes at reasonable prices.
All meals are made more enjoyable by the amazing view from the restaurant and the extremely friendly staff.
We highly recommend the Endless Love Package to anyone planning on staying here for their honeymoon. The included romantic dinner was beyond our expectations and the decorations in our villa were beautiful. However, keep in mind that the decorations are with real flowers so be prepared to find insects amongst the petals in the bath.
Overall, we loved our stay at GK Bali Resort. We hope to be able to stay here again in the future. We wish we could name all of the staff that served and helped us throughout our stay as they all deserve a thank you.
My wife would like to give a special mention to Ros for her genuine kind heart, always welcoming us with such an amazing smile, and making us feel special. She adds more joy...
