Wow – what an absolute amazing experience! We looked over hotels for ages prior to booking Vila Lumbung and we were hesitant as this was quite a distance from the swankier beach hotels. But we were so please with what we encountered here that we cannot wait to return! We arrived to the traditional Balinese style of hospitality, and as we were escorted to our Vila we were blown away at the beautifully manicured tropical gardens and immaculately clean areas. Stepping into our home for the next few days we were speechless. The place was stunning! The décor is traditional Balinese style, and although dated made you feel like you were living the Bali experience. Our room was spacious – had a kitchen and separate lounge area and the air conditioner was freezing! Upon exploring the gardens and grounds we located the spa area and pool which is just as spectacular as in the photos you see. Pool is not too deep and has an abundance of lounges, large fluffy towels and the all important swim up bar which we spent many afternoons at! We loved the location of the hotel – we felt as if everything we needed to access in Seminyak was within walking distance – and if we traveled further the concierge was always on hand to arrange a driver for us which was most competitive! The staff were just a blessing – by the time we left every staff member knew our names, how we liked our coffee and what cocktails were would order at the bar – we were made to feel so very welcome and at home. A special mention to Henny who greeted us every morning at breakfast and would provide us with insider tips on which shops to hit up and ideas for day trips around the place! She is an absolute sweetheart and made our stay so much more special! We honestly did not want to leave this place! Breakfast was always an exciting affair as you had the opportunity to socialise with the other guests at the hotel. The selection for breakfast is just AMAZING and this was one of the few hotels who actually had GOOD coffee! The only negative of our whole experience would be dinners in the restaurant. The meals were on the pricy side and were very underwhelming based on the dining experiences we had elsewhere in Bali. I would honestly recommend venturing down the street to Earth Café, Chandi, Mexicola or our personal favourite across from the Hotel – Mase Kitchen and Wine Bar which was divine! Overall – we were so pleased we chose this place to stay and will definitely be back here again. If you are not fussed with having ultra-modern state of the art everything and are more after the Bali experience at a fabulous price I would highly recommend staying here – we loved every minute and cannot thank the...
Read moreNow for what i paid for this hotel per night, around $60-75AUD per night, you really can't go wrong. Anything over this price, and pushing up to 90-100 would be overpriced, in my opinion with other options nearby that may be better for that price.
The rooms are basic, very old bali type decor, and needs a good renovation, but you get for what you pay for. The beds were comfortable, pillows half decent, and the shower had hot water, so thats a positive!
The internet in the hotel was hit and miss, and VERY slow when you are connected through the Wi-Fi so i couldn't stay here long if i was having to do work at the same time.
The pool area has limited sun beds around it and they all seem to get taken pretty early on in the morning, so good luck getting one!
Pool is a little worse for wear, but then again, the entire resort has aged, and i guess thats the bali style character you get, but its still fine!
Breakfast is pretty simple, food wasn't always topped up in the warmers, and stuff struggled with requests due to their lack of knowledge in English, but they will get there and learn im sure.
Pool bar is a winner, happy hour every day, 2 for 1 at the pool bar, so thats a good plus for this hotel! Beers werent always cold, had to ask them to get a cold one a few times, not sure why they arent all cold! So ensure you ask for a COLD one!
Pool table and restuarant area is chill, open air and relaxing. Live music seem to be on once a week with a all you can eat BBQ. The music is kind of loud and goes to close to 10pm, so you may as well join in the festivities!
For what you pay, its worth it, its set back from the main road, so you can't hear any traffic noise at all, which is great! Plenty of shopping, massages, bars and a wellness centre near by, including body works and Soham - great gym spot!
Coffee Cartel is close by for decent coffee and breakfast! Always busy, so get up there early.
Thanks for the stay, it was nice, i enjoyed it, and im sure ill be back for a boys trip to sink some beers in the pool at some...
Read moreWe visited Vila Lumbung several times as my Brother in Law was staying there with his son whilst we all visited Bali recently. We had a BBQ Banquet that my B-inlaw invited us to which was nice and relaxing by the pool. The pool area was large which consisted of a safe pool area for young kids with basket ball ring, it included bridges that walked over the pool areas that took you down to the lower pool which had a swim up bar. There is an additional bar that backs back into t he eating area from the swim up bar that has a handy pool table whilst enjoying a cocktail which we used regularly. This pool area was a lot deeper and was for adults.
Adjacent to the spa was a waterfall which you could walk through and jump into the pool through the water which the kids found to be a lot of fun. The rooms where nicely presented. My B-inlaw took out two different rooms over his stay which gave us a good look at what was on offer. He originally stayed in a twin share almost hotel type room it was however, a little bigger than a normal hotel room. It had a balcony and generous sized bathroom.
His last three days he stayed in a bungalow type room which was much more spacious bigger TV more sitting area and porch entertaining area out the front of the room. The hotel had a playground for the kids and the lush gardens made it very tropical and green. The staff where helpful and organised drivers and other activities as required. My family stayed in a Villa down the road so we met up most days at Lumbung to go about our day organising things from there.
The security out the front with up and down closing car barrier makes it a safe place to be. The security guards are always diligent in checking all cars looking under the car and in the boot.
I certainly would recommend Hotel Lumbung for all sorts of travelling families or single people. It seems to cater for all types making most who stay comfortable and...
