Kajin Japanese Contemporary Sushi — Restaurant in Pulau Bali

This is my second time here and it’s really trying to be a top notch place and it’s close but the devil is in the details. The bar is lacking, they have Grey Goose but both times, only tonic or sprite as a mixer. It’s not really a cocktail place.

Food is hit or miss… salmon/scallop or Hamachi carpaccio HIT! Meltique Steak HIT, Oysters MISS (go figure), fancy pork taco (can’t remember the name) MISS, okay that is a hard one too because that taco was trying so hard to be amazing and it just wasn’t. And the Blueberry Cheese cake or the Chocolate Lava cake… forget about it, their supply chain means they don’t have it. I don’t know why it’s on the menu but both times, “sorry, we sold out.”

This is a pet peeve of mine to be fair. If you sell out of the specials, I get it, they’re special, but if it’s on the menu, do your job and make sure you know how to supply your customers otherwise don’t put it on the menu. This has happened twice within 6 months. Be a restaurant and do you job.

The Servín here is awesome. Super nice, very attentive, happy happy with lots of spirit. It’s a Japanese sushi style restaurant so don’t expect they are going to get into detail on the menu or really cater to the experience. What would you like…. Here it is. No miss no fuss, and I don’t speak Indonesian so I’m grateful I can order in English. Terimakasih

Kajin is just above the already popular rayjin teppanyaki. My wife and I decided to try their sushi since we've had their teppanyaki a few times already and it was a great choice. The photos were taken by her as she's definitely better at taking photos. The service was warm and extremely quick. We ordered a small bottle of sake which was kept in an ice bucket behind our table. The wait staff was so attentive that the cups were pretty much filled only a few minutes after we were done. As for the food, wow, was served pretty quick and the taste was really really good. I pretty much knew already that the food would be great but it was still a pleasant surprise when my wife and I looked at each other happily after trying each new dish. I will be back for sure and maybe in a bigger group so we can try...

Starting by getting the comfy seats, fast and friendly service, and contemporary warm and cozy ambience.

The appetizer were uniquely satisfying, the Trio Carpaccio was fresh topped with slightly sour vinagrette sauce and savory crumbs. The Seaweed salad (love the tangy dressing) has complimented the taste of Goma-ae.

The Sashimi Combo (in a boat) was superb along with pretty presentation. I love the fresh tuna tartare, salmon and tuna sashimi, and the soft and creamy aburi salmon sushi plus the ika sushi was easily chewed!

California rolls was good so we had to ask for one more portion ;) plus Smoked Salmon Cream Cheese that has crispy baguette at the bottom.
