What to say about this place? The first room they gave me smelled of mold. Breakfast is an absolutely awful selection of cheap, low quality ingredients, my 'do not disturb' signs was ignored twice, the room service and the food in the restaurant is absolute garbage, and staff, while friendly, often don't seem to know what they're doing. Everyone's smiling but the place is a disaster.
The location isn't great at all, unless you want to walk five/ten mins in the dark to the main street while getting harassed by the usual local hustlers that are all over the area trying to rip everyone off. It's not my first rodeo and this level of hassle is worth noting. So many examples of rip off attempts, like a 400k quote for a 20k taxi journey.
I'm a solo traveler and I travel a lot and unfortunately picked up an illness in Thailand, so I stayed here for over a week because I was sick on arrival and, apart from an interesting building and pool, I really did not enjoy my time. Internet is completely inconsistent, so if you need to get any work done, get a 4G SIM or stay somewhere else.
Towards the end my card didn't work for one of the ten or so room service orders I made and they called my room phone about the outstanding bill twice the next day. After spending $500 or so you'd expect a little decorum and to let $10 slide for 24 hours while I had my card unblocked by my bank (because someone from a previous restaurant trip tried to charge my card again, lots of card skimmers in the Kuta area).
Why did I keep ordering the bad room service? Because restaurants are just too far away from the hotel and I was ill. I eventually got the Gojek app set up to get food deliveries but reception refused to let the delivery drivers bring food to my room which meant a long walk to reception. Thanks for that, you grinning incompetents.
I have no idea how this is a 4 star hotel. Maybe the current manager is incompetent and it used to be a good hotel?
Location-wise, I think it's better to stay in Canggu or Ubud or somewhere on the island with locals less enthusiastic about ripping everyone off. This area is a complete hassle. Not the hotels fault but certainly something...
Read moreThis isn't a boutique hotel. It is a facade. I'd give it a 3, hotel manager attempted to overcharge a bill 700,000 Rupiah Gets a two for bank fraud.
The good: main pool is big and clean, fast internet with ~45mbps service. Matress is good and high quality King Koil (how they spell it in Bali) pillows. Bathroom is clean and has a classic colonial look.
What's OK: breakfast is average, There's nobody working the pool bar. Often the restaurant and adjacent bar restaurant is left unattended. The WiFi is open and unsecure, easy to get hacked without protecting your devices.
The Ugly: Manager on duty attempted to over charged my account 700,000 Rupiah. None of the paperwork matched and wasted an hour at checkout - as this is a big problem in Indonesia. Don't authorize incidentals, and pay cash.
This hotel is popular with mainland Chinese and none of the employees speak Mandarin. Making check-in/out often a 2-4 wait. Housecleaning are young boys who dick off, playing games. Rooms are never clean until late, and early check-in is impossible even though the occupancy rates is below 50%. No waiter/waitresses services the pool. There's nothing in the area for restaurants or even mini-mart, unless you know Bali. It's a dead end street; without motorbike or car access easily to the beach. The room furniture is "IKEA" style garbage. The walls are paper thin! East facing rooms have no blackout curtains and you'll be awake a 6AM. 1/3 off the hotel is off limits to a semi-prive pool; which is completely vacant, as it's vastly overpriced with no service.
Conclusion: this is acceptable hotel for $30 and ok if you have events at the Sheraton 4 Point, or W Hotel nearby - and don't have the budget for $120-$400 room, like those hotels. Otherwise I'd look elsewhere...

The hotel's amazing decor instantly struck me when I arrived. The hotel has a sleek, minimalist design with open areas, high ceilings, and modern architecture. Natural elements like wood and stone were used in the design to offer warmth and texture and to create a warm, welcoming ambiance.
